hi, needed to add some weight to the handle to balance out heavy rubbers, so attached 12g of coins with tape to the bottom end. is this legal?

by the way, i'm really surprised how much of a difference the balance makes. i now added 18g to the handle and the total weight of the racket is a whooping 220,5g but it feels so much lighter than the head-heavy 202,5g it was before.

Yep, heavy weight is really only felt when the blades is head-heavy. When the weight is in our hand we do not feel it much. I think it might be all about levers. 😁

Man that's funny 🤣
I can't imagine there's a rule specifically outlawing it but at the same time I can't imagine a pro player passing racket inspection like that.
Would removing them mid match, or them falling off mid match represent tampering with/changing the racket in a way that could be deemed unfair? As in you're not allowed to change to a different racket mid match without a damn good reason. It could fall foul of some interpretation of this?

Yes, this is the argument of balance over total weight. I value lower balance and overall, a heavier weight which makes me play much more stable vs incoming high energy balls.

This is NOT... ALWAYS true... but often true. A few overall lighter setups I can play super just fine.

You can do it look nicer without the problem of falling off; you can use double sided sticky tape (like the one used for carpets) to stick the coins to the bottom end of the handle and then use a heat shrinkable tube, 5-6 cm long, leave 1~1.5 cm at the end (after the coins) and use heat from a hair drier to shrink it and keep these coins locked in place until you remove this tube. This will work nice on flair handles.

What if you removed the badges (the MLEO one and the Yasaka one on the other side), routed into the handle behind them to fit a 10g or 5g weight such as those used for tyre motorcycle tyre balancing. Then stick the badge back in and presto, heavier and still looks perfect 👌
These things are usually 12mm and 24mm long, the 5g and 10g and maybe 2-3mm thick.
Tidiest way I can think to do it.
