He should have challenged the 9-10 serve. I would have.

Omg I was thinking the same. Can't like this enough.

On hindsight, TTR might have conveniently broken down at that moment

So close. Had a match point even. Ballsy of WCQ to do a fast long serve with his event life on the line.

WCQ not looking as dominant as he has before, especially when on serve. But, he's shown more resilience in tough situations, and maybe that's a more important quality to have in order to try to recapture #1 status.

it was a fast long ball and he reacted on an instinct. He didn’t have enough time to think it through to challenge the serve.
I didn’t watch the entire match. Were there any serves challenged?

That’s when most player pull that fast long backspin ball out. It can really catch the opponent off guard just like how it did this time too.

And even the one on match point. His coach deserted him - what is the point in speaking German if you can't remind your player to challenge on crucial points.
It’s not like he can challenge it after missing the return.

Yeah - this is the current flaw of this system.. Actually the umpire should have automatic data after each serve.. Like a live-system that analyzes and based on that system the umpire should fault serves directly after them being done.. and this is not actually so hard in terms of technology.. for two tables at least.
But still - with this challenge system it seems the Chinese are struggling more - less hidden serves - better receives from the opponents.
