No, the only person that needs to be aware is the umpire and timeouts can also be called by the coach and accepted by the player. It is becoming a pattern that you keep looking for meaning in things that not that big a deal as you make them out be for the player whether it be hidden serves that just about all the players do, timeouts/rules that are managed by umpires or innocuous hand movements that players do.
