His backhand is really strong... his forehand is just not consistent enough when he goes for it.
his FH is stronger than his BH
just need to get the confident up. too little game time (only 5 wtt feeders in 2024 and 2025), so this is really going to be a test for him

LYC's forehand betrayed him big time at the end of the 7th and his backhand kept him in it - painful way to lose with so many chances...
need a couple of these experiences to make him stronger.
glad he was close and didn't give up.
just didn't have it to send those FH cross court for the win

What a match between AJH and LCY. Almost felt like AJH stole that win. LCY played very well and it felt like he had the initiative in almost every point. Very strong backhand indeed. AJH was mostly relying on touch game, stable blocking on bh and counter loops with his FH

Just spoke to his bench coach, a good friend of mine.
a lot of sighs... haha
shame.

but indeed, not enough big stage experience, so was just that 1 shot missing (loss track on how many match points).
back to the draw board!

his [LYC] FH is stronger than his BH
Looks a lot stronger to me, though he missed a few he shouldn't have. He almost hyperextends his elbow on many backhands. It's still a good shot, but I think it could be better if he kept it more compact. Might avoid elbow problems too in the future.

Is it just me or did anyone else notice Sabine Winter plays like the female version of Quadri Aruna? No BH but 110% massive massive FH.

The idea that Quadri has no backhand is a myth, but your point is taken.

imagine if Aruna where to put Anti on his BH side. He could only concentrate 120% on his FH. Just a what-ifs situation...

That's the thing - Quadri opens with his backhand (ask Duda or Harimoto if you doubt this), he punches with his backhand and he fishes and spins with his backhand off the table when forced to go back. These are all strokes that only work powerfully with inverted. He also does a lot of sidespin pushes and chops when he can't read the serve. People who say he doesn't have a backhand are always thinking rally backhand topspin, and there is a point to this, but it is often overstated. Many "good players" with strong backhands have struggled to rally with Quadri's backhand because the quality you have to produce to overwhelm it is significant.

His backhand block/punch gives players fits because of the rally speed you need to maintain and it sets up his forehand very well. His fishing game keeps him in the point until he can get back and attack with his forehand.

If he used anti, he would lose all those things and then be stuck at the table or have to chop, when right now he is putting pressure on many players from both sides of the table. Anti is not something special, if you are the same level as the opponent and they use anti, once you play them a lot, they become too easy to play because you know you will always get a slow dead ball at some point and once you can attack that ball, you win the point. If you don't play them a lot, learning them at the table might cost you some points and from there, it becomes about your ability to find and hit the empty ball.

That's why Winter was so bad against Odo, don't get me wrong Odo is good, but Winter would have looked better blocking with inverted on both sides even if it wouldn't have changed the result. But Odo of course as a JNT member has lots of pips/anti players to practice with, even their coaches are good with the material if forced to use them.
