Hugo is offered at 1.66:1 on bookmakers
What were the odds (preferably before the match started) for Moregard vs WCQ?

p.s.
For reference, pre-match odds for Moregard vs Calderano at Paris 2024 were from 1.65 to 1.85.
Calderano vs WCQ at World Cup 2024 were from 3.2 to 3.65.

A blog post on the odds of the top seeds after the draw was out. Poor CXT, WTTC 2023 bronze < WTTC 2021 bronze?
https://www.thesportsgeek.com/blog/world-table-tennis-championship-betting-odds-predictions/

Wang Yidi (9.00)

Wang Yidi has won 81% of her tour matches in 2025 and recently claimed the WTT Champions title in Incheon — though that came without Yingsha or Manyu in the field. She followed that with a disappointing group-stage exit at the World Cup, raising questions about her consistency against top-tier opponents.
Yidl has the tools to make a run, but in a full-strength field, she’s a step behind the main favorites.

Chen Xingtong (11.00)

Chen Xingtong holds an 80% win rate on the tour in 2025 and has a history of pushing — and even beating — Sun Yingsha in past seasons. But recently, those matches have been one-sided, with Chen struggling to keep pace against the top seed.
Her high-risk style can overwhelm lesser opponents, but unless she tightens up under pressure, she’s unlikely to survive a deep run through this stacked field.

I found some. Pre-match odds for Moregard vs WCQ were from 4.6 to 5.5.

For Calderano vs WCQ, they are 2.66-2.75.

yes 4.25:1 === "payoff" of 5.25 (1 + 4.25) if you win (after paying -1 upfront)

x : 1 == "payoff" of x+1 after paying 1 upfront.
bookies like to show payoff because easier to understand ??? and show a higher number so it looks more juicy than it really is

LYJ/KCJ (6) 2-3 Togami/Shinozuka (2) (6, -5, 7, -6, -6)
9-dan for Togami and Shinozuka after this.

Shinozuka is actually the key of the pair here. His "correction ability", which was praised by Mizutani, came into play again in late G1. His touch and placement in the short game, especially when receiving (he hits where it hurts the most), complements Togami's damage output really well, even better than Uda and Matsushima.

Given Hugo has Simon as a sparring partner, there's no mystery: Hugo has Simon's creativity, with chinese power. The chinese players can't handle creativity, like side-under spins on what looks like a top-spin, chop blocks (remember the ones Simon did to Timo in a single rally ?), side spins chops far away from the table, two-handed backhands, they are like robots and IA: they can't create anything on their own and can't give a proper answer to creative shots .

No brainer: Hugo 4-2 WCQ, he'll win the 2 games Simon needed.

-- Make Olympics 2028 free of the boosters
is what EQC decided at their last meeting here in Doha. We have voted all in favour, of course, with a single voice dissident. Guess the country. Heh. 🏴‍☠️

WMY saves 4 match points in game 6, including a desperation lob edge ball, to force game 7...

Incredible final. SYS handles losing 4 match points in game 6, going down 0-3 in game 7, another run by WMY in the middle of the game, and then slams the door.

I think, mentally Hugo is not the strongest of all the top 10 players but hope it changes quickly later in the final when he has a look at Bruna...;)
Dude... do you watch TT or at least stay informed about TT ?

One trail 1-3 vs WCQ, that one manage to win but still that one's not strong mentally :ROFLMAO:

On the other corner WCQ whines as soon as someone barely touch his racket, like a toddler with his rattle...

And you want to talk about who's mentally stronger ?

Waow...

This is true. Hugo was tight there. He missed easy balls coz he couldn't hold his nerve, and it had nothing to do LJK. Likely Hugo was having a PTSD, lol, or he just couldn't wait to end the game earlier that got him tight.
Ptsd..that was hilarious
