OOT but what happened to Liu Dingshuo? I thought he was a better player than WCQ back then and he'd be the future main man of CNT.
I had the same question in my mind actually. He seemed to be doing really well in the chinese trials in 2017 and looked rather promising

What made the difference last time was that the rallies were 50-50 till 3-1 and Hugo started winning the majority of them after that. Today, Wang Chuqin has won the vast majority of the rallies from the get go and there’s nothing else either Hugo is doing better at today. That’s why he’s gonna lose. No currently active player can beat a top form Wang Chuqin

At the world cup it was also a 4-3 victory before the finals so it’s likely not gonna be lack of energy problems. If he plays like he did today and WCQ is not in top form he’s gonna win if WCQ is also in an impeccable form I don’t see Hugo winning.

Congratulations to Wang Chuqin, the first left handed World Champion from China breaking the curse of Xu Xin and Chen Qi, the first left handed player World Champion since 1993.

You finally broke through everything and now are a Champion!

And congrats to Wang Hao once again for helping a player win a major final against a foreigner!

no chance today, WCQ handles Hugo's serve so well today. Hugo hasn't executed his tactic like the set 1 anymore
Yes indeed, hugo threw the first set away giving WCQ a present. WCQ wwas so solid though that even being 2-0 down my guess is he would clinch the title. Laser focus through every point and without any mental fluctuations

First left handed world champion in such a long time. Who knows what would’ve happened had Fan Zhendong and Ma Long played this year. This is similar to the world championships Houston but I don’t want to discredit WCQ regardless. congrats to him, dominating performance.

He's retired due to injury (foot?). Showed some promise in 2017 but then 2018...

Well, Hugo was not on the yesterday's form. Wang is crazy good, but the most important thing is that Hugo could not play a near perfect short game like when he played against LJK, which is of course the result of being lack of energy. To play good in small details, it requires you to have all the focus, which needs you to be in a 100% stamina state. That's why no one can play two life time matchs in just 2 days. If Hugo meet Wang first then things will be very different.
