I give Hashimoto a 25% chance of winning. Their last encounter ended in a 4-2 victory for Mima so it wasn't an easy victory. Hashimoto did take Mima to 7 games once at a domestic tournament. Should be interesting.

A 25% chance for something that has never happened before is pretty high. I hope you are more right than I am.

Especially since for the toss angle it seems to work out, if it's not the same direction as the camera view and the arc looks more narrow on screen it still calculates a larger angle.

Direct linear transform (DLT) is used to map the object point (ball) to the image point (camera) and calculate the actual toss angle. Only 2 cameras are needed.

Theoretically speaking, they could use that to calculate whether the space between the ball and both net posts was obstructed.

Harimoto uses two calls of faults against LYJ. Killed his momentum as LYJ won the next two points. But anyone who thinks pros don't want to win by faulting their opponent's serves is missing the point completely. He wins the game on serve return because LYJ had to be more careful to avoid getting faulted.

Ito has not been shy of speaking her mind over the use of selection trials for Paris 2024 and made herself crystal clear after losing the WS spot to Hirano at Zennihon Takkyu 2024 that she will be more greedy and try a little harder despite thinking of quitting. [1, 2]

There is no need to sugar-coat it. It is pure greed. Ito has admitted her style doesn't mix well with selection trials and it's said that she "bent" the rules in her favor by requesting the addition of points for beating any Top 3 CNT players (but failed miserably to get any). So like Ishikawa at the start of the Paris 2024 cycle, Ito is getting in the way of her teammates by the merits of her WR, that is, Ito has a different starting line and she is well aware of it. The fact that she opted to qualify for ATTC 2024 and WTTC 2025 by WR instead of selection trial highlights her awkward position on the team just like Ishikawa after Rio 2016 when she was also 23.

Ito deserves credit for being the undisputed No.1 at playing choppers and showing the world how its done. She also didn't have an easy draw earlier beating Joo Cheon Hui (1W1L before US Smash) and Pavade (1W2L).

Hashimoto will get another shot at Sweden Smash and future Smashes as long as she stays in Japan Top 6, which is not impossible considering Nagasaki has Contender championship points expiring soon and so does Hayata for Olympics.

Why Someone can only challenge opponent's serve on one aspect, angle, hidden, or height? It just makes no sense. If a TTR review shows a serve is illegal, then either one would count.

Also makes no sense that a player can only use TTR if they believe an umpire call is wrong. There should be no limit to how TTR is use as long as each player gets 2 reviews each and if they are wrong they lose the review.

That's merely stating the obvious while ignoring the cold hard fact that they were all earned from WYD directly and indirectly. By Mizutani's and Harimoto's comments on Hayata, Ito still failed to scale the other walls and win all the way. Ito herself even dissed the value of those medals in the previous cycle but now treasures them like family keepsake? Double standard much?

Not the first time. Guo Yan is getting grilled for her comment toward ZYL during/after her match against WMY.

If Ito never made all those petty comments and marooned her teammates in WT (as well as Hayata in WD and Morizono and Uda in XD) after not securing WS for Asian Games 2022 and Paris 2024, the equivalent of saying she was robbed of the WS spot, then may be she deserves more credit now. As I've said, Ito is too selfish whereas Hirano is too selfless.

Hirano never complained about the selection trials despite losing so much early on, never ditched her teammates after losing and never looked down on them after winning, either. What more can you ask? Kihara is also like that.

Hayata's demeanor has also leaned toward that of Ito in recent years.
