congrats to both Japan and Taiwan (I have 3 players between the two, 2 going to play in France and 1 in Poland) for taking team gold.

Table Tennis at the 2025 Summer World University Games - a table tennis competition that will be held as part of the 2025 Summer World University Games from 17 to 24 July 2025 at the Messe Essen (Hall 1) in Essen, Germany.

The table tennis tournament at the 2025 Summer World University Games will be contested in seven events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, mixed doubles, as well as men’s and women’s team events.

Participants

More than 150 athletes from more than 53 countries took part in the table tennis tournament. Each country was represented at the games by student athletes who had passed the national selection and met the FISU criteria. The largest number of participants were declared by China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, which are traditionally considered the strongest in world student table tennis.
The list of participants included both current champions of student continental tournaments and young talents who are members of the national teams of their countries.

Playing System

The table tennis tournament at the 2025 Summer World University Games was held in several categories: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles, and team competitions.
The singles competition began with a group stage, where athletes were divided into groups by drawing lots. The group games were played in a round robin format, with the best players in each group advancing to the main playoff grid.
Doubles and mixed doubles started directly from the knockout stage. Team competitions included both singles and doubles matches; each team match was played to three wins (best of five). Matches in all categories were played to four winning sets (best of seven).

Sid Naresh beat Ao Hualei of China 4-3 in the Round of 64.

I believe the stream for the mixed doubles final will start in about 5 minutes (9:40 AM Eastern US time).
The final is the last match of the day.
