yep,
the deeper we dig, the less credibility of the word "pro" we have.
same whatsapp group as hu - which is a mere 6th division player at best.

btw, that video the kid shared, is from a training center that I use for my Koreans and Taiwanese players when near Munich, so I know the center well, and I know the head coach very well.
Yep that's Tom Wetzel's club in Bad Aibling, I recognize it easily. Anyone there could have practiced with Pereira for a bit I'm not sure what that is supposed to prove.

I believe KTT actually believes this stuff about his coach, but, it is strange to say his coach beat the current #1 U15 boy when he actually lost to him 0-3 and it wasn't very close at least according to the records.

KTT should check the truthfulness of statements before posting about them. Maybe he was told by his coach and didn't check. Also, even if Liu GuoLiang decided tomorrow to start coaching him 24/7 tomorrow, he will still have the issues everyone has already mentioned: who can he practice with? Can he play 8 hours a day? Where is the money going to come from? Etc. Etc. Etc.

When I trained in China centuries ago before the internet, a coach over there asked me if I knew this Chinese player playing in the USA. I said yes. The coach said if I ever saw the guy in the USA I should say hello on his behalf. The coach then told me what the player's nickname was in China and how they were from the same area. The coach said he played on a city team and won the men's championship one year for the city team. This guy living in USA played on the province team at the time but they knew each other.

So at a tournament in the USA, I said hello to this player and said that the coach in China said hello. The USA guy said "who?" as if he had no idea who it was. Then I said oh hes from this city and played on this team and won the city championship one year. At this point the USA player's face turned red. He was pissed off and looked like he wanted to fight me. Then he said something like "that's bullshit, he never won that event" and stormed off madder than hell. I was stunned by his response. It was like I insulted his mom, slept with his wife, killed his dog, and emptied his bank account. I had never seen someone get so mad over something so silly. I never attempted to speak to the guy ever again lol. Now do I know if this coach in China lied or purposely wanted to piss off this player in the USA? I have no idea but I found the whole incident hilarious.

yep, and I will be having a bunch of TTR2400+ players arriving next month to make the training group one of the strongest it has ever been.
op's coach is only TTR2000, its world's apart.

this is when he should watch this clip 10 times

kid, 2400 means it is about 2700~2800 USATT
the video is of a 2600 vs 2800
just imagine what your coach will look like if he (2400) were to play against a 2800.
2800 can't even get you top 50 in the world, but it would be getting you close to beat someone near the top 50.

Again, this did not happen. Not even close. You know that USATT tournament records are public information right?

He did in fact play the current #1 U15 boy in the country, and he lost 3-0 (11-6, 11-8, 11-3). According to the tournament record you were also at this tournament. Looks like you played well there by the way, congratulations. But where is this story about walking in with no training for many years and beating that junior coming from
Oh, maybe I was thinking of stanley from their match a little while ago

Your coach's only other tournament within the last year was in October 2024 when he also lost to that other junior, not the one in June 2025, that you were "maybe thinking of". Prior to that in his last three tournaments he lost 0-3 to a 2550 former collegiate player who is not U15, some person I don't know but that isn't and never was in the U15 rankings, lost 1-3 to a former high level junior now adult who was never at the top of the rankings and that takes us back to 2023 so way over "a few months ago".

I understand you may feel the need to defend your coach. But I am wondering why these fake stories when information is easily publicly available and yet you are actually there at that club and yet still are saying that your coach won two matches that he lost?

For everyone's reference that lefty is Yu Kayama who is 2800 and has beaten several of the top USA players such as Kou Lei, Hiromitsu Kasahara, Kim Taehyun, as well as KNT player Cho Seungmin. He will play in MLTT this coming season. And yet, his claim to fame is basically once being the practice partner of Lin Yun-ju. So this is the level you need to get to, to even have a chance to get to the top 50 in the world.

Such a shame !! This has gone from a "cute" story about an ambitious (although very unrealistic) young man to something that is just sad.

From my point of view.......... this thread has definitely run it's course.

Kudos to all those who have tried to offer good advice, only to have it ignored by a 12 year old who thinks that he knows better than everyone else.

Best wishes to the young man and hopefully as he matures further, he will learn that some people are more knowledgable than he is and he would do well to listen to them. Hopefully, he can excel in other aspects of life (e.g., academics, business, etc.) other than table tennis.

precisely, and this kind of level and "unknown" in Asia, is in the hundreds.

Yu himself did appear in some ITTF youth circuit before and was very near to cracking into JNT.
He lives full time in Taiwan and the other day I saw him taking a couple of TPE U15 under his wings (2500+ USATT levels) - I actually recorded some videos, but didn't have a time to sort it out yet.

I'm glad the kids we have in the TT centers across Taiwan is not so naive.
probably they know its not a 0-1800 in one year, and 1800 - 2800 in the 2nd year
