Looks like the surpassing battle has been shut down today with Togami 3-0 LYJ. But let us see how Uda responds.
At this point, I'm going to just blindly bet on any player that TTD deems has been surpassed or needs to retire. Seems like a good way to profit lol

To think this was the first time Togami won (like his win over Jorgic at WTTC 2025) whereas Uda won on the first encounter in their junior days.

I dunno zeio... It almost seems like you're making the case for Togami. Uda won once as a junior over a decade ago and hasn't won since. Togami wins a recent encounter in straight games.

Seriously, I'm tired of repeating myself.

One last time. To this day, Togami still has not fulfilled his potential that I saw in him 4 years ago and he's aware himself.

Uda is a lefty. They should've gone for Togami. He's right-handed and the only one who took out Mizutani at the ATTC 2021 trial. Uda lost badly to Mizutani and Sora Matsushima in the group.

Togami has shown he can play doubles with various teammates, driving FZD/XX to the brink in the SF of ATTC 2019. The thing with Uda right now is that he plays exactly like a South Korean player, placing too much reliance on form. He either upsets or gets upset, making him wildly unpredictable, but could be a great asset under the right conditions. OTOH, Togami has way more balance between FH and BH, making him much more consistent, that could be a great balancer for the team event between 2 extremes as Harimoto and Uda.

Mizutani-san points out the "homogenization" and "lack of adaptability" of all Japanese players

In this Table Tennis Kingdom interview, Mizutani Jun, gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, and Yoshimura Maharu, silver medalist at the Rio Olympics, had their first "deep conversation" about table tennis. The theme was "receiving." Mizutani-san points out the "homogenization" and "lack of adaptability" of all Japanese players.

He said he especially feels a sense of crisis about the standardization of style, where "when Harimoto Tomokazu starts doing something, everyone starts imitating it at once."

Yoshimura agreed, saying, "After listening to Mizutani-san's talk, I felt a sense of crisis about the entire Japanese team." He stressed the importance of Japanese players improving their ability to adapt to opponents. Furthermore, Mizutani-san suggested improvements to aim for the top of the world, saying, "Japanese table tennis needs explosive power like Korea."

For the past 2 months since he got Ueda as a personal coach his game has become more sophisticated and well-rounded, Today he dealt with Lin's bh flick wonderfully from service to 5th ball attack, doesn't lose too much distance when rallying.

Not just Togami but I hope the JNT men as a whole will be more solid as they finally have veterans sitting on the bench, inheritance is important. These guys already have much better techniques than their previous gens but need wisdoms

zeio likes to say things that deny the obvious things that don't fit his agenda. Like me but in the service of evil not in the service of devil's advocacy... just kidding...

The 2-5 point finishing running backhand from Rassenfosse is one of the most amazing shots I have ever seen in my life. Liam Pitchford will feel better this boys backhand is absolutely dominant.
