Almost half a year later, is this "union" thing going anywhere?

Someone like Felix or Alexis getting involved in plays like this, at this stage of their careers, would be far more damaging to their own careers and brands than it would be to the WTT. Everyone knows that. The rest of the players on the list that Tony posted isn't going to stop the show from going on. I see your point, but, at the current time, I don't see this group of players even acting together moving the needle much. Maybe if they start getting some top tier names who are willing to put their money where their mouths are.

Agreed, but as of now, I think only 2 or maybe 3 of the players in this union (Lebruns and Hugo) are people who can really affect WTT's bottom line and not be replaced. Some may disagree with that and that's fine.

And likely they would be hurting their own careers and aspirations by threatening to boycott and actually boycotting long term especially if WTT calls their bluff. That's why I think you probably need more top tier players who really can affect the WTT bottom line (SYS, WCQ, and maybe a few others) before this will gain any traction.

The success of this will also depend on the type of demands they are making.

Nope, as was obvious...

I have chatted with players in the top 100/50 who are part of it and they do believe something will come of it.
One player did tell me one request did get approved, cant exactly remember what since it was few months ago, but my memory tells me it was part of smash.

I have chatted with players in the top 50 and 100 too and they haven't mentioned anything about it but granted they are probably just not participants. Curious what the request is and whether its something that WTT would have granted anyways, but until this organization is strong-arming WTT into significant changes its hard to say much about its effectiveness.

I think it is mostly European players involved, with some South American and some Asian.
Kanak probably knows more about it, as he is half German now :p

Just cause I have an American flag doesn't mean I only know American players, quite the opposite actually. Anyways, I'll be waiting to hear about any meaningful moves this group has made...

It doesn't look good on them if they had to deflect the question (can I just say lie?) about Chinese players 5 months ago when the whole point of the "union" is transparency...

I wonder how many players from East Asia have signed up to this. I can understand why they are keeping it a secret if it may affect them with their association.

If players have some problems with ITTF/WTT the union isn’t going to nark on a player to ITTF/WTT saying this player said this or that player said this, that has to be confidential or it would personally effect the player whether ITTF/WTT may give them a fine for speaking out.

But I do agree that if the union has an issue and ITTF/WTT does resolve it or implement changes to it then it should be something that the union should comment on.

If they are not hiding anything, then there are only 3 East Asian players out of the 100 (only 99 listed) that have signed up - Yoshimura M., Nagasaki and Togami.
