What then if someone cannot afford it? ALX series plus G1 are not that expensive in the grand scheme of things but they are also not exactly cheap.

I heard this from someone, and I agree.

Any all wood blade with medium hardness rubber is good enough for most hobby players, unless you have a special style. You don't need to think much about equipment until you can effortlessly hit 20 consecutive loops FH and BH and can place your serve at any location you want.
