As expected, Harimoto was the target, getting bombarded from the get-go. It came down to how well Harimoto could fend off the first loopkill.

WD R16
Harimoto/Hashimoto 2-3 Hayata/Ito (-8, 9, 7, -10, -3)
G2 37, 47, 48, 88, 89, 99, 911. Dumb Hayata. Ito also misread a lot of chops.
G3 30, 32, 62, 63, 83, 87 TO for Harimoto/Hashimoto, Hayata/Ito changed tactics from 83 by holding back and playing short to cut down on misses, 97 Dumb Hayata fell for it again, 107 Ito misread Hashimoto's push, 117. Hayata/Ito were reduced to amateurs in the first half of G3.
G4 04, 24, 25, 35, 37, 47, 48, 68, 69, 89 TO for Hayata/Ito, turning to Hashimoto proved effective until the endgame where Hashimoto adapted in time, 99, 910, 1010, 1012
G5 02, 22 slight net for Harimoto, 25 slight net for Ito, 27, 37, 311

Hashimoto not being able to counterloop was the decisive factor, putting all the pressure on Harimoto. The prospect for Hayata/Ito is also not good after this match, with the same old problems still unresolved.

And I read somewhere sometime ago that ball feeder said TPE had some promising youngsters that would challenge CHN?

What would you do if you were a CTTTA coach? LMAO, 重學人話係教練,誤人子弟,連波都未識講,料理農務系

Pray tell where, in that link of yours, Tony was saying that the Taiwanese youngsters would challenge the Chinese?

Wow, It went from 4-6 to 9-6 to 9-11. What a.loss... against an opponent she last lost to in 2016... I guess she wants to work on doubles.... but why is smart Ito losing and dumb Hayata winning.... the paradoxes of dumbness I tell you....

WS R32
Zeng Jian 3-2 Ito (-6, 10, -5, 12, 9)
The bronze medal at ATTTC 2025 is already a pretty big boost on team morale. This win couldn't have come at a better time.

TTQ has nothing to do with this loss. The specific tactics against Ito have been well documented by the CNT. It just comes down to execution. You could see Ito's smartness helped her reverse the score from 4:6 to 9:6 in G5 but the loopholes in her game (particularly against long pushes to her BH) were never patched.

Its interesting how the story always yields the desired narrative. A pity Ito couldn't just stay smart and thr tactics against Ito couldn't be executed consistently. Someone would have won 3-0 in that case but who?
