It would be funny if the final is going to be Yuan Licen and Fan Zhendong. I still don’t understand how Yuan Licen made it this far.
How the guy beat Zhou Qihao and Chen Junsong I will never know. Plus a little help by the fact that Liang Jingkun was out early

FZD takes it with an almost Ma Long-like display of short pushing, and some of his usual insane backhand counters. I hate to say it, but it's time for WCQ to retire.
Why? WCQ is still the best player in the world by a mile in international competitions. Am sure FZD cannot play like WCQ in international competitions now. This is China games and familiarity helps a lot. If LSD beats FZD in the finals, does it make him better than WCQ? no right, as we have seen how he fares in international competitions.

Btw, taking nothing away from FZD for beating WCQ. He is also my fav player.

Table tennis at the National Games of China-2025 is the national table tennis tournament held as part of the multi-sport event — the 2025 National Games of China, which takes place once every four years. Table tennis competitions at the 15th National Games of China-2025 are held under the auspices of the General Administration of Sport of China.

From 20 to 26 March 2025, the adult qualification tournament was staged in Ningbo at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center. On 2 April, the U18 qualification event kicked off in Huangshi, Hubei Province. On 15 October, the Chinese Table Tennis Association published the official entry list for the final stage.

The main stage of the tournament is held from 7 to 20 November 2025 at the Galaxy Arena in Macau. A total of 10 gold medals will be awarded, with the first champion decided on 11 November. Five sets of medals will be contested in men’s and women’s singles and team events, as well as in mixed doubles in two categories — adult and U18.

Participants
Senior Category
Qualification Stage

  • Each participating unit may register no more than one men's and one women's team for the team competition.
  • Players registered for the team qualification event are also eligible to compete in singles and mixed doubles.
  • Athletes are not allowed to form mixed doubles pairs with players from other regions/teams — cross-team pairings are prohibited.
  • Players who finish in the top three (1st–3rd) in each event at the following competitions earn a direct entry to the final stage of the singles event:
    • 2024 Olympic Games (Paris),
    • World Championships 2022–2025,
    • Men's and Women's World Cup 2024 and 2025,
    • Mixed Team World Cup 2023 and 2024,
    • 2024 Asian Championships (champions),
    • 2025 Asian Cup (champions).
Final Stage
  • The top 4 men’s and women’s teams of the 2024 China National Championships, as well as the top 12 men’s and women’s teams from the qualification stage, earn places in the final team event.
  • The top 24 men’s and women’s singles players and the top 24 mixed doubles pairs from qualification advance to the final stage of their respective events.
  • The Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions may enter one men’s and one women’s team each, directly qualified for the final stage of the team, singles and mixed doubles events.
Playing Format
Team Event

  • The tournament uses the “five matches — best of three wins” Olympic format from the Paris 2024 Games. A team match consists of 1 doubles and 4 singles matches. Each team has 3 players, and no athlete may play more than two matches. The team that wins 3 matches earns 2 points; the losing team receives 1 point.
  • Match order:
    1. Doubles (BC – YZ)
    2. Singles (A – X)
    3. Singles (C – Z)
    4. Singles (A – Y)
    5. Singles (B – X)
  • Each match (singles or doubles) is played in best-of-5 (first to 3 wins), with games played to 11 points.
  • Group stage: 4 groups are formed.
  • The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage.
Singles and Doubles Events
  • In the qualification stage, men’s and women’s singles matches are played in best-of-7 (first to 4 wins). The same format applies in the final stage.
  • Mixed doubles matches in qualification are played in best-of-5. From the quarterfinals of the final stage onward, the format switches to best-of-7.
  • All events include two medal matches — the gold medal match (1st vs 2nd) and the bronze medal match (3rd vs 4th). No playoffs are held for positions 5–8; players share the final standings.

Seems like FZD used FZD super ALC for the match against WCQ? His counters are faster than before, I believe.
FZD is WCQ's kryptonite - he seldom lost to WCQ even before he took a break from WTT. WCQ's problem is that he relies way too much on serve/receive/3rd ball. But FZD can defend the 3rd ball due to his inhuman reflexes and then forcefully transition the play into a topspin rally where even now he has no equal (even though WCQ has definitely been training the topspin rally a lot recently).

Only Lin Shidong has the topspin rally capability to go blow to blow with FZD. But tbh LSD hasnt been in the greatest form recently so I think FZD takes this...

All other players who have beaten FZD in recent years usually rely on a lot of trickery, weird shots and weird attacks and usually in 5 game matches which doesnt allow FZD to adjust in time. With 7 game matches it just becomes so much harder.
