as said before if it is true, I would expect TB ZLF updated for Hugo preferences as it is/was quite similar blade. If we can say so the main difference (as far as I know), Hal is a bit thicker, but the composition is the same.
As I really like Viscaria, TB ZLF (own both current and previous version) and Xiom Hugo Hal, I will for sure buy Hugo blade made by BTY :D

Hugo is not a fan of carbon so I don't understand all the carbon blade suggestions. That said, given how badly Xiom handled his World Cup win and the stocking of his blade, i would not blame Hugo for leaving them.

That said, I will believe it when I see it.
Well if it’s true he’s leaving Xiom then it makes sense. Why would his new Table Tennis place CalderanoTM in Brazil have DHS tables and not Xiom his current sponsor. If he is leaving then I would lean that he goes to DHS but Butterfly is certainly an option. Whether those tables he got for his new Table Tennis place were due to sponsorship or he paid for those tables outright is uncertain.

I can't say anything about the other stuff, but I don't think him having DHS tables on his new club means he is leaving Xiom. He put the DHS tables and balls because those will be used in major tournaments. He probably just wants the best quality + best tournament setting adaptation for whenever he trains there.

It was said here in the press that he chosed DHS tables for his club to have the same used at WTT, Worlds, etc..

Not that he will live in Brazil but he wants to pratice in similar conditions when he is in Rio to stay close to his family.

He had a long term contract with Xiom, maybe 7 years.

I think he would stay with some ESN brand If he leaves Xiom.

Hang on a second lads. All the experts on here tell me that it's absolutely essential to play with a super fast carbon blade because its now 'the modern game' ?
"Super Fast Carbon" sounds like hyperbole, but if you can move and hit the ball like Hugo, you can use anything you want. Most players, after trying it and fatiguing or hurting their arms and shoulders trying to get more pace on loops and blocks, will gladly take a bit more help from the carbon as long as it doesn't ruin their feeling/touch.

I hope the rumors are true.

I don't like how Xiom handles certain things at all. A player like Calderano deserves the best possible treatment.

Xiom has stopped producing the blade of their best player, who won the World Cup using a racket that couldn't be purchased.

C55 rubbers are hard to find in Europe with maximum thickness; they keep them for the Asian market. (I've used both, and the maximum is much better).

As for the catalog, if you look at the characteristics of the blades, you can't understand anything, while Butterfly, on the contrary, gives precise specifications that allow you to understand the type of blade even without trying it directly. The specifications in the Xiom catalog are incomprehensible.

I have also heard that the quality of the blades themselves has declined in recent years.

I hope to be sponsored by Butterfly.

I also hope that Xiom understands how to better manage its brand.

As much as I like Xiom products I would love a Butterfly version of the HAL, if only for a new handle 😂. Butterfly would make sense for the fact that Japan and Brazil have close relations dating back to the early 1900's, with Brazil having the largest population of Japanese descendants outside of Japan. Of course, by that logic Xiom, Victas, and Nittaku are all relevant, but I'm sure BTY can write the bigger checks.

As NextLevel said though this is all wistful speculation until we see some proof beyond a missing logo.

What do you mean? It’s sub 50€ for example in Czechia. Vega series is cheaper and good enough for most players if you‘re after that.
It was roughly $65-70 here in the US, but I wait for a sale on TableTennis11 and buy a few sheets. Comes to about $45/sheet (~40 Euros). I used to play with the Vega Pro/Euro when I started, but I like the feel of the J&H C series.

Mainly joked about the price because Hugo won a major with C57.5/C52.5 and I think is the only other top level player that uses the C series is Xiang Peng.
