The rise of THA has come, merely a day after I called it. FYI, the THA pair repeated their medal winning performance from Hangzhou 2022, where they took out PRK and IND to earn WT bronze, which they repeated yet again against FRA in the WT R16 of Paris 2024.

On another note, Puripol broke Su Bingtian's Asian Games 2018 then new record of 9.92s (PB 9.83s set in SF of Tokyo 2020) to win gold in men's 100m final.

LSD was 1-0 in H2H against Matsushima, but then who was going to get Togami if the match score was 0-2 instead?

It was a unanimous decision of the coaching staff, rather than just WH. I will post his interview later when I get time. They could've lost in straight matches if they used that lineup and WCQ lost to Matsushima instead. They probably didn't expect WCQ to fail to get 2 points.

Well they are hosts, sich things were within their means if they had realized the implications. No complaining about TTR now. It is not like Shinozuka isn't always serving behind his head.

Again, another example of what i am talking about when a coach takes a speculative gambit against ranking and fails despite all the data at the time supporting his speculative gambit (unlike the people who just want Hayata to be replaced by players who will do far worse once the CNT adequately prepares for them). Now we get the second guessing and if it wasn't China, questions would be seriously asked. I am sure there was a diacussion because we saw how Wang Hao was said tto have handled LJK as #2. I will be interesting to see whether LSD wanted Harimoto or not. Because that was the original focus I am sure.

What has surprised me is that despite Tomo's great win over WCQ and now this loss, we have yet to hear about how much Insight Ma Long, Hao Shuai and Hou Yingchao have. Maybe Ma Long meant greatest threat to beat CNT players and not other players or teams? Just thinking out loud...

Noshad's #344 WR is nearly as meaningful as FZD's non-existent WR at this point. To try to deduce anything from it about his playing level would be silly. He's been mainly playing league matches in France during the past few years, and barely any WTT tournaments, so of course his ranking points have expired. He was around #50 two years ago, and from watching his matches I can say that not only hasn't he regressed, but his level during this tournament and especially against Harimoto was even higher than when he beat the likes of LSD, LJK, and LGY in recent years. He was even close to beating WCQ during the Asian Games last year, he's certainly no slouch and capable of beating any player on a good day/night.

Harimoto was in fact quite clutch in coming back from being down 3-1 9-4 (and 4 match points IRC) against an incredibly in-form Noshad to get to the 7th game. It's just that Noshad is a highly unorthodox player with great (and often times dodgy) serves that bamboozle even the best players in the world, and Harimoto was unlucky enough today to face his best version.
