On the men's team, I guess if Fan Zhendong wanted to play, they could have one more? Or the blocker is the fact that WJTTC was not won by Ruibo Wen or Li Hechen?

On the women's team, it's interesting that Wang Yidi is selected by World Ranking, whereby if they used a standard similar to the men's, maybe Chen Yi would have gotten her place? Or maybe not?

Regardless, the World Cup will be fun and the switch to best of 5, while it might affect the length of the prelims or force the use of more tables, will be appreciated by the athletes.

I suspect that they will try to freeze FZD out as long as he is not playing WTT tournaments, but it might well reach a point where they will have no choice if results are extremely bad....

I don't think he is coming back or that they need him, I was just trying to understand why China got 6 women but 5 men.
