Why weren't Sharon and Nikhil picked ahead of Naresh ? I think they are stronger players than Naresh
Players are not just picked, you need to be available to play. Neither of those players has been available to play and travel internationally for a while now. Nandan is at least currently committed to table tennis professionally so at worst, he is being developed as part of this process.

It looks like the selections followed the National Team Ranking orders, with links on https://www.usatt.org/national-team-rankings
Nikhil didn't play in any of the ranking tournaments (the new version of the team trials), lost to Nandan at US Nationals, and lost earlier than Nandan at the US Open.
There's also Nandan's brother Sid Naresh, who is 7th on the list, but I believe he (and Ved Sheth at #6) have final exams coming up.
Sharon didn't play in any of the tournaments that were considered or have a world ranking. He also didn't play in any USATT-sanctioned tournaments for almost 4 years, until this March.

Are the stats on the Leading Players (i.e. Most Overworked Players) lists correct? Hugo in the top spot for men’s is shown as having played 6 matches but it’s actually 4 so far, unless I’m missing something.
Must be ITTF hinting that Calderano will have to win 2 matches against Uzbekistan...

And Harimoto of Kazakhstan will make the impossible possible by playing 7 matches...

MT Grp15
NGR 0-3 HKG
Aruna 1-3 Baldwin (-6, 7, -10, -6)
Crucial win and precious experience for Baldwin.
Omotayo 0-3 WCT (-7, -3, -6)
Mati 0-3 Lam Siu Hang (-7, -6, -5)
G2 69 Mati thought he won the point and celebrated by turning around when in fact Lam's shot hit the net assembly and the point was still in play.

(For the men's team, led by Wong Chun Ting, and accompanied by Chan Ho Wah, Lam Siu Hang, Yiu Kwan To, and Kwan Man Ho, the Hong Kong team is grouped with South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria, aiming to advance. Chan Ho Wah recently lost to Yoshimura Maharu in both the men's singles and men's doubles at the Taiyuan leg of the WTT series. Head coach Li Ching described Chan as having "the strength of a top 50 player, but the mentality of someone ranked outside the top 100." Chan Ho Wah stated that he benefited greatly from the Taiyuan leg, prompting him to rethink how to improve. Tonight, he will embark on another journey, heading to the Czech Republic for competition and training, preparing for the World Team Championships.)
