What tt rubbers and blades do you think are the most overpriced that are still being produced?

By that I mean compared to the competition the quality or performance is subpar for the price

edit: don’t start to list extremely limited or collectors’ items. I’m stricly speaking of stuff still being in production and available for the public.

Basically every single ESN hybrid rubber, for the reason of dying so ridiculously fast.
Most pre-boosted rubbers (which is pretty much the entire ESN mid range) because they change so much throughout their lifespan. When you put on a fresh sheet of the same rubber after 6 months it's a whole different game.

Xiom carbon blades for having notorious issues with quality yet still charging premium prices.

Donic blades in general for producing such insane variations and selling them as the same model. No two Donic blades have ever felt even roughly the same to me. It does get a little better when you go above midrange prices, but by then they are competing with other brands' premium models and still having worse consistency as the competition.

...and then of course there are the Golden Viscarias, National W968s, but those are pretty much grey market so overpriced is a bit of a skewed term there. I just don't think any special version of a blade should rack up multiple times the amount of the regular version.

I agree about ESN. Some of their latest rubbers are egregiously expensive, like dignics territory but longevity is subpar and same with quality sometimes.
I have noticed that tenergy isn't even considered expensive anymore.

I wonder if professionals would even use these rubbers if they weren't sponsored.

To make matters worse, given the dirt cheap yen, Tenergy and Viscaria are year-2008-cheap (US$35 and $103) now in Chinese mainland that it's not even funny.

To be fair, ESN rubbers will very often be found at a significant discount, while butterfly never has discount.

And whatever our illusion is on rubber longevity, it is very marginal. I have a club-mate of a close level (close to semi-pro) that plays the whole season (9 months) with the same set of Tibhar Mk pro and normal mk on backhand. His rubbers look so worn-out by May, but he plays exactly the same and is able to produce 90% of the spin he could produce at the beginning of the season.

This said, I still change my rubbers every couple of months 😁 .

I consider anything over 40-45 euros overpriced, and you will find almost all ESN flagship rubbers at this price with the discounts.

Quite probably all the classic rubbers.
Should a Coppa or Mark V still be 40 Euro list price after being on the market for so long?
They have their audience and that´s fair enough, but development and marketing should no longer be part of the price.

Mark V
The price of that rubber is ridiculous tbh.
It still has a place for beginners but that's it and so it should be ~€15.
Butterfly at least has longevity going for it and that makes Glayzer a steal at €45 and even Dignics is fine at €80 if you can get a year from it.
ESN rubbers over €40 are too expensive because of short lifetime.
G1 is good value for its lifespan tho.

Glayzer being a tensor... If you compare Mark V to Sriver, they're equally overpriced. Now if you compare Glayzer to Rakza 7, both are pretty much light tensors with a good lifespan.

I file these into the collectors category - it's just "market price" at that point.

Interesting, I've only heard good things about the senso-carbon and original carbon series, I myself use a Donic Anders Lind, which I think was a steal, vastly better than what you can get from the chinese manufacturers and I think the other brands are more expensive.
ESN hybrids I 100% agree, no wonder Butterfly is such a market leader.

Nothing is overpriced. The player with the most expensive setup wins every time.
lol, sadly, many believes this is true and don't train properly, but experience is the key factor.

man, i love beating players with pro gear using my Temu bat.

returning to the topic, BTY Sriver/Tackiness's price is insane specially because how it melts after a few months. Sriver used to be the "cheapest" rubber new players could get from the distribuitor, just to end in disappontment. Kinda glad Temu exist allowing underbudget newbs play the game.

The Hexacarbon is made in Sweden and still loses in build quality to $50-60 Yinhe blades. It's more expensive but for me still goes to bat in the same arena as blades like V14Pro/Pro01/XX-A, and for around the same price I'd rather have a DHS ACB. Still not a bad price for a decent fiber blade from a European brand, most namesake and flagship fiber blades from brands like Andro, Stiga, Tibhar have been going the way of Butterfly in terms of pricing.

Donic Anders Lind is made in China, i also have one ✌️
Is it made in China or is it made in Sweden? I had one but thought it was kind of unremarkable so I sold it. Can't remember where it was built but the build quality was very reminiscent of quite a few Swedish-made blades I've purchased in the last decade (that is to say, rough). I'm pretty sure my ZJK New Era is made in China which is crazy because the finish is also kind of rough, considering that I've had just as good quality finish from brands like 729 and Loki
