Heh, admiration of cheaters seems a mental deviation. Is it not? Loki brand owned by WHao came down to infamous reputation for darefully distributing on market those nasty boosters in plenty.

Nobody agrees with you. Nobody thinks that comment provides any useful information at all. If you are going to post, say something nice and stop hating. No one gives a damn about these stupid rules. The ITTF is in shambles and no one cares about them. You don't hear the actual players complaining, do you? What about the audience? No they enjoy high quality rallies thanks to booster.

Credit also needs to go to coach Liu Zhiqiang. The amount of times I have seen him grilling LJK at previous WTT events must have helped him overcome those 2 wins against A Lebrun and Harimoto.

Hari and Alexis looked like hobby players mentally compared to LJK. I wonder how he practices for that.

I felt this issue from Harimoto's interviews 3 years ago. He said something like Ma Long's successful career was just from diligent, or he wanted to challenge the World Champion, etc. This is a kind of amateur mindset, where you only want to play against the much stronger opponents and don't care about people who are at the same level or weaker than you (just like club players set the goal to beat pros, but pros mostly focus on themselves with more realistic goals for their careers). This would mislead the goal of your daily training and even your general approach to the game style you actually need. Harimoto found out the way to play against Wang Chuqin or Felix, or LJY, ... but he didn't really "improve" his results against others. A better mindset would be that he focuses on himself, improves every of his weakness, stabilizes his strength and gets better in adapting different styles. He doesn't have to be "dominant", but at least he should constantly win against weaker or same level opponents. This requires "diligent", which he looks down on.

Lei Yang confirms A. Kallberg was sick, could hardly get off the bed on the morning of SF, skipped the morning practice session and was already deemed unfit to be fielded. OTOH, Kuo Guan-Hong played very well that day.

I mean I would be pissed as well especially if I bought plane tickets and hotel bookings in advanced.

When these things tend to happen it’s better to just cancel it though since WTT have way too many events. Good for us viewers but not for the players.

I wouldn't be surprised if the London WTTTC underperformed financially and the sponsor wasn't interested in taking a bath twice.

From what I could see, last two days of the London WTTC - semi-finals and finals - were very well attended, but the preceding weren't really. Not sure though attendance will be much better in Astana though.

The attendance was also much lower during the earlier WTT Contender in London. Smaller venue, no China, etc - that could have ended up a factor.

I don't think it is so much about just attendance, but whether there is a sponsor willing to lose money on the event. Kazakhstan has had rich dictators/billionaires willing to fund prestige events (chess/FIDE is my compass for this) and with Kiril and Alan doing relatively well, maybe there is a desire to do something.

Kazakhstan has had rich dictators/billionaires willing to fund prestige events (chess/FIDE is my compass for this) and with Kiril and Alan doing relatively well, maybe there is a desire to do something.

Can't rule out that possibility as the event was still on the TTE calendar that was released on 2026/4/24, just 4 days ahead of WTTC.
