Difficult to quantify but to me they are quite different - I didn’t get on with HL5 but I really liked the King. Caveat being I am a year down the road and more inclined towards inner carbon blades now than when I had the 5/5x.

T19 is slower than 05 not faster in my opinion but neither are close to G1. 05/19 are both fast dynamic rubbers that need some ability to control. G1 is slower, easier to control and way less dynamic and spinny than 05/19. If you can play well enough then I think 05/19 is a far superior rubber...

I think they’re very different blades - outer carbon vs inner carbon and limbs vs koto. If you want to change to inner/limba then go for HL5 or Hurricane King rather than try to find a hurricane that’s similar to outer ALC.

Of course, I understand - for me the 5x just lost everything the hurricane blades are all about. It may suit you and also it will feel closer to the stiffer more direct feeling you’re used to.

I’m revising this answer having played with both today - identical weight with same rubbers but S handle feels just a little more full all round.

I had a Long 5X and it is nothing like a 968. Totally different feel and characteristics - felt harder and stiffer with less dwell and control than even the HL5 never mind the prov or Nat 968’s. If you are looking to save money why not consider a Hurricane King Q?

It’s very well balanced in terms of feel and speed - it was everything I had wanted/expected in the HL5 but not found. Good control and plenty of speed when needed. Handle was a little smaller than I like but not a bit issue.

Got the S yesterday so not yet tried it but similar weight and a little thicker (6.09mm vs 5.96mm) so will be interesting to see how they play.

My latest EJ purchase - having loved the Hurricane King Q model I decided to splash out on these two beauties to see which I prefer. I have played a week with the Q but not yet tried the S - blade weights pretty similar but the S is 6.09mm vs the Q at 5.96mm.

Yes, one arrived Monday and the other Tuesday. That meant I’ve been able to try my Q at a 5 day camp I’m on this week.
