  1. Table tennis culture in non-dominant Asian countries? (NOT China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan)

Singaporean here. Have been playing since 7. Now 14 going 15. It’s true that the table tennis culture in Singapore is plain sad, and mostly better players are in their mid to late 30s and older. Penhold, especially 1 sided Chen seems very common here especially among seniors. I have a group of...
  2. Yasaka rubber

I advice in modern game don’t go 1.8mm. 2 mm is the minimum, as we need that extra bit of speed in modern game. More power too. Although there are claims that thinner sponge helps with control, I found it untrue and in fact makes you develop bad technique with the bat very open, not pulling a...
  3. Short review of Glayzer 09c

I bought my Rakza 7 for $31 SGD. I'm quite shocked to see those prices. That would be the price of Rakza Z here. Or even Hurricane 3 NEO. Guess I'm lucky lol 😆
  4. My Taiwan Cypress blades

We need Ryu to use that with some crazy fast rubber like Bryce High Speed or T05H or some other thing with speed glue and 38mm balls. That would define, "speed kill".
  5. My Taiwan Cypress blades

110 for a 9.1. This is dense wood. I'm thinking you should try a jpen in the modern Xiom Hibi O Tour head style shape, with a smaller and angled head for easier switching between forehand and tpb. And handle must be shorter eith an extention of something light like cork or balsa, with a small...
  6. My Taiwan Cypress blades

    Wow. Thors hammer.
  7. Jpen TPB tips

It was also interesting to find out he used Bryce during early to mid 2000s. I thought he used something like Sriver. Tenergy 05 which is somehow synonymous with Ryu only came out in 2008, and by 2014 he left the ranked scene. So this was an interesting fact learn from the video.
  8. Jpen TPB tips

As former exclusively tpb player. I suggest you look and learn from the legendary Kim Taek Soo. In his prime, even into the late 90s and early 200s, he was a beast. I suggest look at the year 2000 match he had with Liu Guoliang. He lost in the end but it was such a close fight. Mind you the...
  9. Jpen TPB tips

Well that was something I used to do. Until I got inverted for topspin rpb
  10. Short review of Glayzer 09c

I think we forgot the better and cheaper tride and through Fastarc g-1. 😆
  11. Reverse pendulum serve: swing arm forward or backward ?

I personally do the pendulum serve based on the style of the second videos of Zhang Ji Ke and Fan Zhen Dong. the first stroke swings to the backhand and then after motion to forehand. As a righthander the serve then will move right. the pendulum serve goes left. But, I have done and fond others...
  12. Using the non-dominant hand. [Timo Boll] handswitch.

Ooo. Nice to hear the responses! When I play tennis with my old schoolmates I too double hand backhand and find better stroke with left hand forehand. More power and follow up stroke
  13. I'm an intermediate beginner putting together a 0 racket

Another good one and more expensive is yasaka ma lin extra offensive i guess. Can try boosted h3 orange sponge forehand about 39 degrees.
  14. I'm an intermediate beginner putting together a 0 racket

I guess sanwei probably v5 fl or yinhe t-11, boosted double fish volant or rakza 7 backhand g-1 forehand like me.
  15. Using the non-dominant hand. [Timo Boll] handswitch.

I was born a left hander, but when i was about 6-7 my grandmother said that being a leftie was "not auspicious". Hence i was forced to using my right hand. Now I write as a right hander, but my left hand still has surprising amounts of dexterity and motor skills, (party kept alive by the fact...
  16. Ready-made bats for the neighbour kids

Dhs Pf-4 is nice but if you can go for doublefish volant. Much more options for sponge hardness and 2.1mm rubber may suit modern games better than thinner rubbers. Plus they go for 12 SGD or less. Excellentvalue.
  17. Ready-made bats for the neighbour kids

This one is actually very good for value and performance. Try this.
  18. Our 2024 'Table Tennis Quiz of the Year'. Running our giveaway of 2x rubbers to one random participant again!

5/12 haven't been looking much tho. But I do know round of 32 being the guy who released a new donic with sick white and red
  19. Rubber cost, durability and initial cost?

I suggest since you're likely comfortable with d09c, stick with it. I believe dignics have good reliability and last quite sometime. More than that I can only think of fastarc g-1. But that's not a tacky rubber.
  20. Nittaku Miyabi

Review by 'olive-nguyen' on item 'Nittaku Miyabi'

I notice not many reviews of this blade so I'll add my input. I use this blade in jpen configuration. Very comfortable blade, soft phenomenal touch as of a good hinoki. Added rakza 7 on backhand for rpb too. Heavier than normal jpen in this configuration. I found contrary to the previous...
