  1. Ma Long's backhand.

Ti Long discussed this in his YT video. Fang Bo has the "opposite" backhand move (supposedly the one Ma Long used in the 2010's). For me Ma Long's move works better because the hip has a similar movement for FH and BH so I don't have to guess correctly what stroke to do. Also starting open works...
  2. Side tape REALLY change the feeling or not? What do you think?

I apply enough edge tape that if I hit the table in a forehand or backhand push the tape is between the rubber and the table. For 2-sided inverted the widest tape is just not wide enough, so I may have to use 2 runs (only on the contact area). I am not sensitive enough to notice a difference.
  3. Perfect beginners blade

I don't think it's all Hinoki. It has a thick Hinoki top layer. See the pics in https://www.tabletennis11.com/other_eng/neottec-amagi-all. I have the Amagi Off- and it is Thick Hinoki/Kiri/Awan/Kiri/Hinoki. Also pretty light. Speed is I think slower than e.g. Victas Swat. I agree it's a nice blade.
  4. Best short pips rubbers under $5? (with sponge)

I think the Yinhe Uranus Pro (medium sponge max thickness or 2mm) is one of the best short pimple rubbers independent of price. Around $15 from AliExpress. Review: The Yinhe Pluto is no longer legal after Sep. 2024, see: https://equipment.ittf.com/#/equipment/racket_coverings
  5. Chinese Blade for BD 39 + Yinhe Moon 12

I have a couple of these blades and I play (currently) DHS H3 Neo 39degrees on both FH and BH. I also have these rubbers on other blades. I would go back to the basics: Do you want a hard or a soft top wood? Are you a Limba, Walnut, Hinoki, or Koto person? Then look at the speed table (at this...
  6. Changing from offense to defense: Short or long pimples?

I went from dual inverted to SP backhand, then to LP backhand (1mm sponge). It took me 12 weeks (2 hours/day with machine & partners) to match my old level in tournaments. I didn't twiddle much in the beginning. I benefited in two ways: 1. I learned to play against long pips players because now...
  7. Issue cutting the rubber

The blade (knife or scissors) catches the rubber. You need to either use cooking oil or dishwashing liquid & water on the blade, so the friction between the blade and the rubber is eliminated. This works for me even for OX (no sponge) long pips rubbers, which you can't cut otherwise.
  8. Inner blades about 85g suggestions?

My Yinhe Pro 05: $67 from AliExpress, China Ping Pong (Limba/Limba/KLC/../KLC/Limba/Limba). 1356Hz, 85.0g, 5.9mm, handle center 27.1mm/23.7mm Plays very nicely, too fast for me in tournaments, I am playing the 85g Victas Swat, 1150-1200Hz.
  9. Should I move on from my current racket (Yinhe E3 + AK47)?

I bought 4 Yinhe E3's (Christmas gifts for my sons, also from princett) and they were between 1162 and 1270 Hz, 3 of them close to 1200Hz. The E3-VB was 1205Hz. They all have Limba top (soft wood). So you can't get a much slower blade than that unless you buy a defender's blade (e.g. the very...
  10. Uranus pro vs ak47 on backhand

The Yinhe Uranus Pro (use the medium, not the soft sponge) is a short pips rubber with ~2mm sponge thickness. It is very similar to the Nittaku Moristo SP (which Mima Ito is using) so if you want to try a short pips backhand game this is the best rubber for it (also cost-effective). The AK47 is...
  11. Fangbob2x

    Yinhe Pro 05: 1356Hz, 85.0g, 5.9mm (internal KLC) Fang Bo B2: 91.9g, 1320Hz, 6.0mm (internal ...) Fang Bo B2X: 89.7g, 1399Hz, 6.0mm, and 91.3g, 1442Hz. 6.1mm (internal ...) Yinhe Pro 01: 88.8g. 1485Hz. 5.8mm (external ALC) Conclusion, the Pro 05 is not that fast compared to the B2X, a little...
  12. Is Rosewood worth it?

I have the Yasaka Goiabao 5 (rosewood + spruce + ayous + spruce + rosewood, 89.5g, 1431Hz). It has a harder top compared to the walnut top Ma Lin EO (5.9mm, 87.3g, 1399Hz) or the hinoki or cypress top blades. I think ash is also hard, so the Sanwei Pro V5 (71.0g, 1291Hz, 5.8mm - a thin copy ;-)...
  13. Should I use a long pimple rubber? If so, which one?

You can buy the Dawei 388-D1 at Aliexpress (several stores) for about $10 (2-3. weeks delivery time). I would go with 0.8mm sponge. Also you may have to glue it yourself if you use the same blade. This is more difficult with OX. Now, the technique is actually very difficult because you miss the...
  14. New all-wood blade recommendations wanted

First question: Top wood. If you want good spin, I would go with Limba, not Koto or Hinoki. Second question: 5 or 7 layers? Except for the Xiom Offensive S, my blades which qualify are 7 layers I also find that the handle on the Offensive S is unusual (wide but flat) and so you need to...
  15. How to play for a professional club like FC SAARBRÜCKEN-TT in the Bundesliga?

I've played in the German (lowest 3) leagues for about 10 years. Basically, every small village in Germany used to have a "Tischtennisverein" of some sort. So this is a table tennis club where people who like to play table tennis get together and play table tennis. There are leagues organized...
  16. Last chance to find a coating that suits me before giving up

Maybe your racket is still too fast for you. I would first try a hardbat racket as it has very good control and needs some force to move the ball. Then go faster from there. Something like this from colestt.com or similar. Maybe watch some hardbat videos and assess whether you usually play like...
  17. Defensive blade with double inverted

See this thread. I find it funny that the Victas Swat shows up as OFF blade on Megaspin.net and OFF- on TT11 while the Yinhe 980XX is (modern?) defender blade. Both have 1150 Hz. This would imply that the 980XX is a little harder than the Swat. Either way there is a noticeable difference to...
  18. Defensive blade with double inverted

I have the Yinhe 980XX 5-ply defensive blade, and the Victas Swat. Both have around 1150Hz, and a soft top layer wood. The Yinhe has the oversized head which is typical for defenders' blades. Because of this the blade is head heavy, while the Victas Swat is more balanced. I play both with H3...
  19. DHS Long 5 stock availability

AliExpress has it in store in several stores. Shipping to the USA is about 2-3 weeks. Prices are reasonable, free shipping. I've bought several blades and rubbers, never had an issue. I think some stores assemble but since this blade has a Limba top I usually varnish it myself (and do some...
  20. How to play against a long pips blocker as a two-wing looper?

First, watch this YT video by Seth Pech. Then get yourself an allround speed (5 or 7 ply no carbon) racket with long pips backhand. I recommend 0.8-1.0mm sponge on the LP, e.g.: Racket: Yinhe 980, E3, W6, or U2, Forehand rubber: Yinhe Moon Backhand/Long Pips rubber: Dawei 388D-1 0.8mm sponge...
