  1. Experience with defensive blades

I have two Yinhe defensive blades, the 980 and the 980XX. They have roughly the same speed (1150Hz) but different wood plies. The 980XX (willow top ply) is softer (and >2x the cost) and is said to be a copy of the Butterfly's Matsushita Pro which is no longer being sold. The 980 has a harder top...
  2. ALC only above semi-pro? or also viable for Intermediates

My goto blades are: * Limba top inner ALC/KLC: DHS Fang Bo B2 (or faster B2X), or Yinhe Pro 05 (KLC) * Koto top external ALC: Yinhe Pro 01 (ALC) They are all about $60 each (TT11 or AliExpress). If you already played a couple of years you can definitely handle the inner ALC or KLC blades...
  3. Racket sanding (did I do it right?)

    I followed this video.
  4. Best LP for casual play?

If you are on a tight budget get the std. Dawei 388D-1. I use 0.8mm sponge and there is a difference compared to 1 or 1.2mm (of course a small difference but the more sponge you have the more you have to play like short or medium pips, i.e. take spin into account). Also a comparable rubber on...
  5. Best LP for casual play?

The OX rubber is just the long pips top rubber sheet with no sponge. But you can order a e.g. 0.5mm, 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.3mm, or thicker sponge under the rubber long pips top sheet. With the sponge (which can be soft or hard or medium) you get less spin reversal but better control for a quasi-top...
  6. Best blade for Nittaku Fastarc G-1

Which top layer do you prefer (soft to hard): * Limba 5-ply (soft) - e.g. Xiom Offensive S (Limba/Limba) or many 5-ply with Ayous 2nd layer * Limba 7-ply (soft, stiffer) - e.g. Victas Swat, Yinhe 437, Stiga Clipper * Aneigre (a little harder) - Sweden Extra, Yinhe W6 Loop King * Walnut (Ma Lin...
  7. Short Pips

I played the Rakza PO for a while (max thickness) and found it was too fast for me. I also tried the Nittaku Moristo SP but found that the Yinhe Uranus Pro medium sponge max thickness was the best for me. More control than Rakza PO. There are also more spinny short pips rubbers but I haven't...
  8. Short Pips

There are many types of short pips (sponge = OX to sponge = 2+mm), pips arrangement more for spin or no spin, etc. This blade is a little slower and heavier than the Yinhe T11+ which I think may be similar. To make any recommendations we would need to know how you play. Maybe start with the...
  9. For those who can't cut rubbers, STIGA presents...

I found that putting peanut oil on my heavy duty scissors makes it very easy to cut the rubber, even thin sponge long pips or OX long pips. Aligning pre-cut rubbers perfectly is difficult, I get it right maybe 50% of the time. Aligning the bottom edge is not sufficient, any small rotational...
  10. Best LP for casual play?

I got the Tokkan from TT11. I also got the Victas Curl P3αV and I don't think it is as good. The Tokkan 1mm is very similar to the Dawei 388-D1 0.8mm. I used it to learn the long pips techniques according to TT Defender.
  11. Best LP for casual play?

I've played several long pips rubbers lately. My current top 2 are Dawei 388-D1 (0.8mm) Professional, and Neottec Tokkan 1mm, on a slow blade (Victas Swat or Yinhe 388/388XX).
  12. Does anybody know any Chinese baldes that are Limba-Limba-ayous-Limba-Limba similar to Korbel and Primorac?

I think you are correct, I compared my B2 and B2X to the Xiom Offensive S, Fextra, and it seems it is Ayous, so I deleted the entry. Is the Yinhe Pro 05 Limba/Ayous or Limba/Limba?
  13. Does anybody know any Chinese baldes that are Limba-Limba-ayous-Limba-Limba similar to Korbel and Primorac?

Xiom Offensive S, $48 at TT11. (on sale right now at $36). It is limba/limba/ayous/limba/limba but its handle is slightly nonstandard, flatter and wider than usual flared handles. Other than that it plays very nicely, great feeling. 1320Hz, 6.1mm thick, 83g. Also the DHS B2 at TT11, it is...
  14. Thoughts and feelings on Yinhe W6 (or alternative blades)?

The Yinhe W-6 Loop King has an Aneigre top layer which is a little harder than Limba but softer than Walnut and even softer than Koto. My 3 copies have around 1240Hz frequency. I like them better than the Yasaka Sweden Extra. However I find that Limba top blades give me more feeling for serves...
  15. DHS Fang Bo B2X

This is a review of the B2 and B2X. I have both and in the latest revision the B2 has the same handle as the B2X and is just a little slower version. The B2X is very fast (1420Hz) vs the B2 (1320Hz). I only have the Ma Lin Soft Carbon (1291Hz) but like the B2X better due to the Limba top...
  16. Yinhe Blades

AliExpress has 2 stores which sell the 980 for about $30 with flared handle. I think most defenders seem to play straight so the flared handle blades are very rare (~10 in China !!). It's a very nice blade though although I prefer to play defense with the Victas Swat instead (softer Limba top).
  17. Yinhe Blades

The Pro Feeling (Koto top, internal ...) has been replaced by the Yinhe 970xx-A (Koto top, internal ALC), then the Pro-05 was added (Limba top, internal KLC). The U2 is 7-ply Limba top, but there are more premium blades like the 437S (Limba top) or 537S (Walnut top). I just found a 980 with...
  18. Has anyone gone back to reversed both sides after an extended period using pimples?

After 10 years inverted as a teenager I did as 60yr old 1 year each of inverted, 1 year of short pips backhand (max sponge), 1 year of inverted, and now long pips backhand (1mm sponge). I also have a 1.3mm sponge medium pips for comparison. I am playing much better against long pips now as I...
  19. Affordable inner/outer ZLC blades

Yinhe Pro 05 is Limba top, inner KLC. Very nice blade, around $60
  20. LP tutorial channel

I played short pips backhand (2+mm sponge) for 2 years, then inverted, then long pips (the last 8 weeks). I also have a medium pips rubber for comparison. What is happening is that the sponge allows the ball to sink in a little which provides some spin. So with the OX rubber I have no grip on...
