  1. Short pimple rubbers

Some like the Waran, I hated it. perhaps the topsheet was too hard for me but I found the TSP Spectol 21 to be much more controllable. I also found medium pips like the 563 effective and Nittaku Pimple Mini to be very fun if you have the stamina.
  2. Planning on a new setup

I own a Tibhar Akkad and i would recommend that anyone consider getting it try it out first if you have the chance. The response is somehat unusual to me in that it feels like there is a speed limiter at the top end. Maybe I'm just used to faster blades.
  3. Ma Long interview-worth a watch !

I respect Ma Long as a player, but this.. their media reeally pulled out the stops to get all those foreigners and interpreters in to produce the show. Who knew they even had Gambian translators. The Q&A is about as spontaneous and unrehearsed as a Chinese tiktok video.
  4. Will Ma Long be able to win this Tokyo Olympics 2020?

Time and tide waits for no man. You want to know how likely Ma Long will win? Check with the bookmakers.
  5. Nexy Korea President (Oscar) Introdcudes New Blade (Eucrasia)

So what is the composition of the blade. If it's not a limba top, is it koto? So in summary is it a thickish innerfibre koto top veneer blade that is a hair longer and narrower?
  6. Equipment of High Level Players and Pros

Samsonov has played with a bunch of different Tibhar blades including the Samsonov Force Pros and the Fortino Pro and switches between blades depending on situation.
  7. Is it time for a faster blade?

Have you tried a 7 ply blade before? There are 7 ply blades in different thickness and stiffness/speed and you may be pleasantly surprised to find one that is faster but as controllable or even more so than some 5 ply blades. I'd recommend trying out the Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro blue handle or...
  8. Anyone using grip tape anymore?

With Danish Oil, which is a boiled linseed oil with drying additives, you should feel the wood and not the sealant. The oil soaks into the pores of the wood (if the wood has open pores) to seal it, which is why you have to apply the finish twice with soaking time in between and then wiped dry...
  9. Butterfly Alternative for DHS Pg9

If you liked the DHS PG9, then get the PG9 of a similar weight. What is the issue with getting a DHS PG9? Is it not expensive enough for you like a Butterfly? A different type of top veneer will feel different. A different brand even with the same wood composition could very likely feel...
  10. Anyone using grip tape anymore?

You don't need grip tape if it's just to protect the handle. You can use something like Watco Danish Oil which makes the handle sweat resistant and still keep it's wood texture, unlike poly finishes which can make it feel like plastic. Most blade handles nowadays are not smooth lacquer finished...
  11. Advice for a first custom paddle

Yasaka Sweden Extra is a fine controllable blade. The top veneer is a bit on the harder side however and you may find a blade with limba top veneer to have a more comfortable feel in generating spin. Realize that Yasaka Mark V and the even less spinny Sriver are 50 year old rubbers that had...
  12. Finding a more solid version of Fastarc G1

The Mark V is too soft and has too little spin to properly learn modern offensive techniques with the 40+ plastic ball. Heck I thought it was junk when I was still still playing with celluloid 40mm balls. How is someone supposed to learn to loop long underspin ball or flick over the table...
  13. Donic Ovtcharov Original No.1 / Senso comparison

So perhaps like the difference between Long V and Fang Bo B2?
  14. What happened to this site???

Now would be a good time to consider setting up some sort of geographically separate mirror/backup server or something so a fire won't take it all down.
  15. ITTF: Let the Witch-Hunt for Boosters Begin

@Short_Pimple Celluloid is made from primarily cellulose (wood) and camphor and is biodegradable, unlike ABS plastic which does not biodegrade nearly as readily and comes from oil whose extraction has caused some well known environmental disasters like the ones in the Gulf of Mexico.Tell me...
  16. Submit a question: ITTF CEO Steve Dainton

When is ITTF going to standardise the plastic material used in the plastic ball so different brands of balls behave the same? How is the rule about hidden serves and booster use going to be uniformly enforced going forward? Did you really thinks having multiple rubber colors going to make the...
  17. Best Balde + Rubber combo for 150 euroes

I'd throw in support for a all wood 7 ply Clipper type blade and the Fastarc G1. I use the G1 and I keep a sheet of Mark V around to remind me of the kind of 50 years out of date meme that people spew about it being a good rubber for an offensive style in the age of plastic balls.
  18. Welcome to TableTennisDaily 2.0 - Bug Report

Arrgh! my eyes. The brightness, it hurtssss. How do we turn the dark back on?
  19. Need to re glue handle to blade - what adhesive do you recommend?

Just curious, why would you want the handle to ever come apart again?
  20. Friendship Battle 2 rubber quality after 4 months

Do you keep just wiping the cleaner on the rubber and don't rinse your sponge? Try a drop of clear liquid soap on a damp sponge and keep rinsing and squeezing the sponge and wiping till all the soapy water is gone and dry with a microfiber covered sponge.
