  1. Grip problems, thumb placement

Yeah, TB has grip changes, and I think Dima has some as well. TB’s index finger ‘floats‘ around a little, depending on which stroke he plays, FH push in particular, his index finger moves and points up the bat, towards the middle of the bat. TB says that ‘FOR HIMSELF’ he has better feel and...
  2. Turning Tables - Discussion on Table characteristics

Yeah, I read that some countries, especially China like to restrict the table and ball used in tournaments, but wasn't sure how much truth there was to it!! Part of me agrees that tables should be standardised more, then another part of me says 'what about Tennis' they play on a variety of...
  3. Turning Tables - Discussion on Table characteristics

An ITTF committee was start to look into it around 2 yrs ago, or that’s about the time I read about it. ITTF seems to be more concerned with internal power struggles!!!
  4. Turning Tables - Discussion on Table characteristics

ITTF are supposedly looking into tables, as well as other equipment. Manufacturers are not really restricted by loads of rules about tables, other than size and a very basic ball drop test. The paint finish is generally up to the manufacturers, glossy or matt are all acceptable. The reason ITTF...
  5. EmRatThich says learn w/Max thickness, fast rubber?

One thing I do with new players (total beginners), is get them to bounce the ball on the FH and then BH side. keep control of the bounce height etc really good for touch. Its really easy to see the difference between the control they have between a bouncy sponge / grippy rubber combo compared...
  6. Longevity of Hybrid rubbers

I’ve found Rakza Z / Z EH to last pretty well, nothing special though. Maybe about 5 to 6 hrs playing time per week for 4 to 5 months, 100+ hrs, seems pretty average!!
  7. Which training ball to pick

Donic coach 1 star or 2 star are pretty good, I’ve used them for a while at home with robot. Nittaku 3 star Nexcell are good but not as easy to spin when practicing serves.
  8. Best table tennis robot - Amicus prime or Power pong 5000

One broke and I got a replacement, this one broke as well!! So I did a DIY repair, since then no issues at all. 1st repair still in use and 2nd waiting in the wings !!!
  9. Service with non-tacky rubber

Sure it can be harder to keep the ball short with non tacky rubbers, its touch, feel and contact that is key here. As far as spin levels are concerned, I feel that tacky and non tacky can both produce high spin levels. People really underestimate practicing serves, they generally don’t spend...
  10. How long to develop reverse pendulum serve?

Started to learn this serve during 1st COVID lockdown, March/April 2020, by August 2020 I had a 'reasonable' reverse pendulum serve. So it took me about 5-6 months or so, and at that time I was practicing serves at least every other day. Everyone is different, for some it could take way less...
  11. Which do you think is more dangerous?

I know a reasonably good player that uses MP on BH, he played British League. He has used MP since he 1st started playing, so knows them very well. Generally he doesn’t block that much, doesn’t chop that much, plays what looks like a pretty standard BH topspin stroke when playing against...
  12. Winning matches at a lower level?

Hi What is your style of play? If you are FH dominant, like to step round BH and play FH drives and loops, then perhaps a change to a 2 wing attacker may be a better option, because as you get older, movement speed is gonna decrease. FH dominant style is very demanding physically. Definitely...
  13. Yan An hook serve

I have a reasonable hook serve, learnt it during COVID lockdowns!!! Tom Lodziac has a couple of good vids with Craig Bryant showing his hook serve. MLFC (Ma Long Fan Club) done some good tutorials on this serve as well. Ti Long too. find these, they are well worth watching.
  14. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Hi LDM7 / Der What was the equipment change? from what to what? Hope you keep improving and are able to transfer this into some good wins and performances in the upcoming tournaments!!!
  15. Dignics on a Budget?! | Glayzer vs Glayzer 09C Review

They used to twiddle the T05 to FH for smashes because it was generally faster and easier to finish these kinds of rallies. At present I'm using regular Glayzer on BH and G09C on FH, (Profile shows Rakza Z / Rakza Z EH, I'll have to update!!) I've tried T05, T19 and D09C, which I find are a...
  16. Dignics on a Budget?! | Glayzer vs Glayzer 09C Review

Apparently the DHS sponsorship deal stipulates that at least one DHS rubber must be used (perhaps on FH). I'm not saying they would choose a different rubber, just that at present they don't have a choice as such. Regarding BH rubbers, in the past T05 was used a lot on that wing by the CNT players.
  17. Looking for rubbers with medium hardness and good control

Joola ’Fire’ is a good rubber, can be used on both wings.
  18. Anybody know the exact ESN hardness for DHS 38-41?

Turbozed is on the right track, it is likely that the manufacturers stated sponge hardness is for THE SPONGE ONLY, however it may not be the case!!! The 'hardness' ratings could be measured for sponge ONLY, top sheet ONLY and then a COMBINED value. But this is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY to happen...
  19. Why were the rubbers black and red in the first place?

For many years rubbers came in different colours, blue, red, green, black etc The issue of same colour rubbers on both wings, the combination of anti / LP one side with spinny on the other was deemed ‘unfair’ by those in charge. (Rightly or wrongly) Hence the colour ruling changes, which ended...
  20. Dignics 05 (un-)replaceable?

Pimple structure of T19 is different to that of T05. topsheet of T19 = topsheet of D05?? Surely it would have been called D19!!?? with the price tag as well !!
