The generation of ABS ball since 3-4 yrs ago is a big cause of nearly everyone (who is training or competing a lot) for getting better. WHY? This gen of ABS ball makes it WAY EASIER to hit through spin (with or without pace) or spin vs spin. NEVER or rarely with any acceptable consistency...
  2. Timo Boll announces retirement after Paris 2024

Many people thought Boll waz gunna retire after 2008, when speed glue ban ended... not like Timo needed glue to pound it, he never did... but his spin play and his defense/counter-offense greatly suffered at that point... which prompted many to think top level play for Timo was over... but he...

I went to a Giant Round Robin and ended up being only 3 players in the group stage 1 and also stage two had 3 players. Played 4 matches won group stage 1 and went 0-2 in stage two both games 5 sets felt real disappointed with my performance but I know it is from not playing enough singles...

I verify that Carl has a lot of stuff going on in his world... and that he serves as Admin pretty much and purely out of love for TT and to expand TT... not that Carl needs anyone to verify anything. It would be so good just to drop in and be trouble making, but the local world and his...
  6. Tibhar Aurus soft

T05 overall plays a little harder and needs a stronger impact to get everything out of it. It is a totally different animal from Aurus, which is simply a rubber that makes it easier to do all your shots and a good top end on well struck balls. T05FX and Aurus soft are much more alike than you...
  7. Tibhar Aurus soft

FX-P is a control oriented offensive rubber. Although rated at FX softness, it plays more like 44-45 degree. Any level of player could succeed with FX-P. You simply land your shots with good spin and do not miss. Aurus Soft plays 42-43 degrees. Can loop anything. Very controllable. Plays all...
  8. Critique my game [Shakehand FH SP BH Inv]

I could write a book, but you would be lucky to remember two things. 1. You stand upright like a statue. Easy to say get hips down some, not as easy to develop the habit. 2. vs this opponent, when you hit fast shots, they all seem to come back. Slow down the pace and make it real heavy spin...
  9. Can I bring many rackets with different setup to a tournament?

In 2020 during a sanctioned tourney, my opponent gave me what looked like a half long ball near the corner... i really got down and made an explosive stroke... ended up banging the lower wrist and bat into endline 4 cm from corner... ouch. I was still holding the leftover handle. My...
  10. Can I bring many rackets with different setup to a tournament?

I have heard and seen a LOT this last one year that a replacement bat must be the exact make model for both blade and rubber. I challenge anyone to show me the current ITTF laws of TT, the ITTF match officials guidebook, the ITTF FAQ, the ITTF Umpire prep book, the T9, or any other ITTF doc...
  11. Can I bring many rackets with different setup to a tournament?

Hi Van, There is nothing in the ITTF laws of TT, the ITTF match officials guidebook, the ITTF FAQ, the ITTF Umpire prep book, the T9, or any other ITTF doc that states all rackets must be the same make/model with the same make/model rubbers identical to each other. There is no USATT current...

Like others have said, I would need to watch you in a match. The one clip you showed was practice to a designated spot at reduced power. You did that fine, but it isn't what you will be doing in a match too much.

@banbekas You appear to have a good position, set good leverage, use your legs well, have an efficient stroke at the table, you impact the ball in the good part of strike zone, have good timing of firming grip, good recovery, good tracking of ball, good stance on reset.

Not need to twist and try to get alignment on the fly during the stroke, just square your hips towards your intended target, do not torque body, bow forward some for leverage, go down and up/forward for the stroke, do not try to engage shoulder and upper arm in stroke, just set the upper arm and...

Again I articulate a similar point... Now that you are making pressure and winning points on balls to your BH and vs balls to your body... now the opponent will avoid those areas... and the only places left are OUT or to your FH... ... Then when you get your FH going for winners, opponent...

Yes, I see things, many of us are in a TT culture that tells to go macho man FH or go home if the ball comes a little or a lot to the BH. it takes some aggressive strong footwork and anticipation, but even old, heavy players can play a step around FH on a slower ball to the BH. It is indeed...

Hi Wrighty... you got a lot of motion going on for this shot... lots of shoulder/torso twist... elbow moving to the side and up during the swing... (although you are making better use of lower arm than in the past)... this extra motion makes it more difficult to time impact and make a whip... it...

@Gozo Aruna to continue on why you hate him hitting to ur BH... if you do a step in and BH hit to those higher balls he gives you on BH and get a few winners... you may suddenly be getting a lot of balls to ur FH that you luv to go full Chick Norris on those.

@Gozo Aruna This opponent giving you all kind of easy chances, but you are RARELY ready or in position or using sound stroke or swing plane... that is why you miss the shots and you get afraid to attack the attackable ones (which are nearly every ball. He did not put every ball to your BH... he...

Good news @dingyibvs I have always advocated for not torquing the body close to the table... gets rid of a lot of overpowering too long motion issues. Height of bat on backswing prep to set the swing plane is uber important too.
