  1. Verified User?

Anyone who takes time out of their day to ask questions on a forum like this is taking it seriously, so why should the response be any different? I suspect the people who would be against this are those who have been giving advice with little ability to back it up.
  2. Verified User?

Hey everyone, I've been around these forums for many years now (long before I was registered), and the same challenges come up time and time again around giving advice. Carl made a very good point yesterday about not giving advice to someone until you've seen them play, but unfortunately, with...
  3. Custom racket - Advice

I'd also say..... Be wary of taking advice from anyone online, without seeing THEM play..... I've seen very few people on here post any sort of video of themselves playing. Table Tennis is definitely a sport where you can't really offer advice unless you have the experience and ability to do so.
  4. FZD using D09c for BH and not using Golden Viscaria?!

The minute FZD signed for Butterfly, it was inevitable a FZD branded blade would be around the corner. It wouldn't surprise me if it ended up being one of (if not "the") best seller from Butterfly for years to come. You'd expect it to be close to the Viscaria/TB ALC - I doubt they'll stray too...
  5. Custom racket - Advice

You'll get better if you play more and practice well - But unless you are having coaching, you'll probably find that your style will have to adapt to the fact your ability isn't good enough for the blade/rubber. I guess it's like a self learnt Golfer - They might do OK in the end, but their...
  6. Custom racket - Advice

If you are a beginner/intermediate, and you want to seriously improve, you can't buy the Viscaria and Tenergy. It won't help you at all, and you'll be really disappointed. If you simply want to have some fun, and don't care about winning, losing or improving, then sure, the Viscaria and Tenergy...
  7. Custom racket - Advice

It very much depends on your level.... A complete wild guess would be that the Viscaria and Tenergy 05 would be a terrible mistake for you........ Unless you are a very very good player (and you'll know if you are), it would be too quick. Do you have any video of you playing?
  8. Butterfly rubbers

Very strange if you are used to T05. If you have ever played with a Chinese rubber like Hurricane 3, it's like that initially, but it's easier to use. It's slow and controlled (comparatively speaking), but has plenty of top end speed when you need to go for it. Great arc on loops, and much...
  9. Butterfly rubbers

I think it could work on either, but I'd much rather have 09c on the forehand. If you have a good backhand already, 05 will be great.
  10. Butterfly rubbers

OK, so I've had a bit of a play with Dignics 05 tonight. Initial impression was a little.... Underwhelming. The throw angle is *much* lower than T05, and it didn't feel particularly special at all. I'd put my bat out to block on the backhand, and the ball would be put in the bottom of the net...
  11. Butterfly Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC Review

OK, first impressions are in…..The short answer is…. If you are looking for something different to the TB ALC/Viscaria’s of this world. This isn’t it.It’s much harder than the Harimoto Innerforce ALC, with a crisper feeling. The long answer is….. More complicated.I’ll start off by saying that I...
  12. Premade rackets

I still think this may be a difference in culture/country. Even though Tees Sport (biggest UK Table Tennis shop) offer bats that have already been "made up", such as the TB ALC with Tenergy 05 on both sides, I can confidently say that no one would refer to them as "pre made". Certainly in the...
  13. Viscaria with more control

I'd usually agree with this, but the OP said he'd been playing with a Viscaria and T05 for 2 years now (and he was doing well!) Obviously impossible to see what his standard is without a video, but the assumption has to be that if you can play well with a Viscaria and T05, you are probably a...
  14. Viscaria with more control

I really feel like the characteristics of a blade are overthought on a pretty big scale. Below is the most recent Butterfly blade matrix. I've added the red box to show which blades I feel are too similar to seriously chop and change between. And this is coming from someone who owns the...
  15. Butterfly Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC Review

Lol, yes, I guess absolutely zero actual table tennis is probably too little! 😃 I’m playing with it tomorrow night and Tuesday night - I just wanted to get my initial impressions up, and give people a chance to ask any questions so I can bear that in mind when practicing.
  16. STIGA Cybershape Blade Review | With Truls Moregard

    https://thorntonstabletennis.co.uk/product/table-tennis-blade-stiga-cybershape-carbon-table-tennis-blade-pre-order-jan-2022/ You’re welcome 😉 Although it’ll feel like a long wait!
  17. Viscaria with more control

Just putting this out there (and all opinions will be different), but I don’t believe a lighter Viscaria will make enough of a difference personally. But it’ll aways be one of those “won’t know till you’ve tried”.
  18. Viscaria with more control

Is it? Butterfly has it down as a rebranded Viscaria/TB ALC etc. I’ve never actually used it personally, just going off their little matrix!
  19. STIGA Cybershape Blade Review | With Truls Moregard

Absolutely nothing wrong with being a fan of one particular brand. But when it gets to the point where you are overly positive on one brand, and negative towards the others, it just looks a little suspicious. Anyway, on the Cybershape, have you used it yet?
  20. Viscaria with more control

The Lin Gaoyuan will be virtually identical to your Viscaria. The Harimoto is definitely noticeably slower and more controlled when you need it, without sacrificing much speed and power. The Dima again looks very similar to the Viscaria from a speed POV, but I’m playing with it tomorrow so I...
