  1. Rubber shrink

That is a crazy procedure! I barely have the patience to leave it 20 minutes to dry 😂 What rubbers have you found shrink otherwise?
  2. Bat for amateur

When I first started, it amazed me how many clubs and leagues there were. Some clubs will have a social and league night, others will just have the league night. Have a look at that list below and send some emails to the various club contacts to gauge what they have. Most people are really...
  3. Bat for amateur

    Yeah absolutely! Share away!
  4. Bat for amateur

Hey Alex, As you’ll already see from the replies, “posting a video of yourself” is a little contentious at the moment, but it would absolutely give people the best chance at recommending the right thing. But in all honesty, that’s probably more important if you are really wanting to get the...
  5. Confident when training, but s**t when playing

As others have said, it’s just time and experience that you are missing. Keep training as much as you are, but play more and more matches (friendly are OK, but competitive is better). I’ve seen some players who train, train and train some more - They honestly look as good and consistent as a...
  6. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Carl, can you just follow me around at home and do these sort of explainers to my wife when I inevitably say something that annoys the hell out of her? 😃
  7. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Yeah my son was using cheap Chinese rubbers for the first 2 years (interrupted by Covid, so he didn’t have 2 solid years of training, more like….. 8 months). I think I’ve said before, I absolutely recommend the tacky rubbers for beginners, and I 100% agree that it the only type of rubber that...
  8. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Again, I pretty much agree with you! I’m not sure why T05 keeps getting used as an example (I’m guilty of that), as it’s definitely a rubber for the advanced player. What I meant, was pretty much….. Any non tacky “Euro” rubber is better for most people (compared with H3) - G1 comes into that...
  9. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Hey MK73, I’m genuinely curious as to which of my views you feel are outdated and wrong? I agree with the vast majority of what you have said, although there are certainly some caveats to this. H3 being one of the most sold rubbers worldwide? I have no stats on that (although I wouldn’t...
  10. Video Footage Safe Thread

@PingBirdPong, assume you are the one on the left? Always hard to judge when someone has an injury, because you don’t know how much of their action is affected by the injury or not. On the bigger FH shots, you tend to whip across your body a bit too much. If it was a clock, you are going from...
  11. The ways to become pro, or something close.

Firstly, never let an online forum change your dreams. If you have a 0.01% chance of making it, as long as you have a back up plan, you need to do what you want. It doesn’t matter what we think, and it doesn’t matter what age you potentially “make it” as a professional. Sure, a lot of...
  12. Butterfly Dimitrij Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC Review

Amazingly, I’d have no problems recommending 09C to an intermediate player. You really have to work it, like you would a cheaper Chinese rubber - The rubber doesn’t do much of the work for you, so if you are currently used to being out of position and playing a soft shot that has the catapult...

Great vids - Really thorough! The biggest improvement are those shoes! I love the Mizuno Wave 8’s! Best shoes in the business 😂 In all seriousness, speaking of movement, your movement/anticipation is noticeably improved in the second video. You are getting in better positions, and earlier...
  14. Should ittf take additional measures to slow the game down?

And if you remove China? What does that fall down to? Genuinely interested.
  15. Should ittf take additional measures to slow the game down?

For me, there are 2 factors here which are slightly different. China’s dominance of the World Table Tennis scene, and TV viewing. With China, I just don’t see how anything will change whilst Table Tennis is the main sport in the country with the most people, and it’s a secondary sport in the...
  16. Video Footage Safe Thread

I’m jealous! We have nothing like that in the UK! Maybe something in London….. But it’s probably the only one in the country!
  17. Video Footage Safe Thread

As it’s the season of giving…. I’ll re share my own footage. One of the things I’d like to stress (to everyone), is that it really doesn’t matter what standard you are, how you play or anything else. If you are looking for advice, it’ll be 100 times better for you if you can post something...
  18. Glueing

My point was more about the massive hassle I personally found it! If I had to re-glue my rubbers now, or "boost" them.... It would be such a pain in the ass! I'm very happy I can glue the rubbers on at the start, and then leave them until I need to change the rubber in a few months time!
  19. Glueing

This reminds me how grateful I am that the speed glue era is dead! Honestly, the hassle of glueing up for each match, peeling off the glue each time (even if it was satisfying at times), and getting high on the fumes…… I’m so happy those days are over for European rubbers. Buy...
