  1. Changing from offense to defense: Short or long pimples?

yeah, style matters a lot. You could play an agressive counterattacking style, a style that focuses on variation or a purely defensive style that aims to outlast your opponent. This will influence the choice of pips and blade. The more aggresive and variation you play the shorter the rallies...
  2. Lessons I Learned in Shanghai about Boosting and Equipment in General

I agree. DHS with the weird quality issues is just overall too much a hassle when compared to bty or esn rubbers. That's why I stick with hybrid rubbers. But if you want longevity, betten choose something not already boosted to the max by the factory (like K3) but instead something you can...
  3. Forgetting form during games

Maybe it would be useful to know why your form fails. There could be many issues, for example a lack of perception, thus being always late to the ball, rushing and getting unstable. Or maybe a lack of body tension and proper neutral positioning between balls to deal with the randomness in the...
  4. Lessons I Learned in Shanghai about Boosting and Equipment in General

A great post with some excellent insights. Now I can refer to this thread if some fool starts yapping again when I state that H3 isn't playable unboosted :D I wonder why Kailin is so popular? Why no seamoon?
  5. Sweaty Hands :(

the solution is called butterfly overgrip. had stiga grip tape before but it became garbage after two trainings. bty lasts at least half a year with many sessions per week.
  6. Recommendations for Forehand Rubber for Deep Impact 36.5 ALX

yeah you changed too many variables at once. blade is a hard fast carbon blade and the rubbers are softer, so only soft spins will be spinny, harder impacts will result in lower spin. I also suggest to go for a not so fast innerforce blade with medium hard rubber that are very spinny. For...
  7. Fitness Workout for Table Tennis

train core muscles, core muscles and core muscles. Helps with energy transfer from the legs. If your core is jelly, the best footwork and weight transfer will not reach the arms.
  8. really struggling with long pips (LP) low-med spin

yes, looping low-spin balls is kind of a seperate technique. you could guide the ball forward while accelerating to play a low-spin loop (instead of having a hard impact, that you should avoid because results in error), or you can play the ball at the side of your body with underarm and wrist...
  9. Identification of the sponge is due and overdue.

seems reasonable, but is it even relevant? Without professional vulcanization process I doubt the bond will result in a consistent rubber. Also if a better sponge would be available, the manufacturer would just use that anyway. I fail to see the point. Of course, it's Igor's post so I should...
  10. Recommendations for a soft controlled BH-Rubber?

an all-wood blade should indeed be preferable when developing technique. For BH I suggest Xiom Musa. Great control and fast and spinny with right technique. Later you can upgrade to something like fastarc C-1. Good luck!
  11. really struggling with long pips (LP) low-med spin

you could always play empty into the pips, then you know what to expect. Or you develop a slow spinny loop that can be played safely in the exact same way against empty ball or backspin.
  12. Is D09c bad for brush-looping?

maybe you are just used to very high throw rubbers. When I changed my blade from all wood to carbon, the low combined throw angle of the blade and of D09c forced me to change to high throw rubber.
  13. DRY BOOSTING. Let the revolution begin.

I love how Igor's posts are consistently something completely out of the norm. Many might dismiss it as nonsensical pseudo-scientific eyerollers, but I just always get a good chuckle out of them. At least, he never fails to be creative.
  14. Upgrading my Nittaku Fastarc G1.

hybrid rubbers have a break-in period, which can take up to 5 training sessions, depending on level of factory boosting, rubber shelf time, among others. I had a sheet of Omega VII China Guang which was fine out of the box. The second one I bought needed two weeks of breaking in, and two...
  15. How to deal with short very heavy topsin

I would say use a technique where you take the ball early. Block, short stroke topspin with wrist, chop block, or hit all work. None of them is easy though. Practice all to find out what suits you. Or you try to avoid those situations. Maybe not give your opponent heavy backspin push if they...
  16. Enjoying Tensor to Hybrid transition. Should I go full tacky next?

What you say might be correct for low level club play. But upwards from upper intermediate players, it is not competitive. So if you are intermediate and below, you may disregard my opinion. Also, saying never to boost ESN rubbers is absurdly funny. What do you do after 4-8 weeks when the...
  17. High friction LP for chopping

thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll try p4 in the summer break and see how that style works out for me.
  18. Enjoying Tensor to Hybrid transition. Should I go full tacky next?

You can try that but Rakza Z is a rubber without much elasticity in its sponge, you may consider something more modern that plays well out of the package and is not a brick such as Tibhar K3. I suggest reboosting on old rubbers to enhance their lifespan from 3-4 months to 6-8 months.
  19. Enjoying Tensor to Hybrid transition. Should I go full tacky next?

Hurricane is not playable unless you boost with at least two fat layers, and then you still need to get a good sheet which has good inherent elasticity. If you get a junk H3 neo commercial then no amount of boosting is going to make it good. H3 Neo was specifically made for boosting, and what...
  20. High friction LP for chopping

I feel that is too boring for me. I need more spin quality in the chops, even if that means sacrificing some control.
