  1. Blade for Defensive player for blocking

It is a great blade, not sure if it's still made though. I used this blade for several years, also with Dtecs OX on the backhand like the OP. It's not a slow blade though, probably not far of the speed of the Diode V. Eventually I gave it up because it was a little too fast for blocking with OX...
  2. Is butterfly overpriced

I wonder if that makes his rubbers 'technically' illegal in the eyes of the ITTF, because they would not be the same rubbers as they approved? Whatever you do, don't tell Igor. :ROFLMAO:
  3. New Xiom blades?

Xiom certainly know how to make blades look nice! Their designs and packaging are second to none!
  4. Wingspan blade

Yes I think what you're saying makes sense, but I also feel it's going to be a lot less stable in your hands for regular strokes. A long handle piece gives you a lot of stability in the hand, and also a lot of feedback through vibration. I'm not knocking this new design, and no doubt it can have...
  5. Wingspan blade

It looks pretty cool, but it does not look that comfortable. I can imagine getting cramps in my fingers very quickly.
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Thank you, that makes sense! I had only heard it the context of gym exercise, which of course is pretty much the same move. Off to the gym now, gotta get those squats done. :)
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

    What's the squat refer to?
  8. Bamboo Blade

JUIC (Japanese manufacturer) made a bamboo blade, called the JUIC Bamboo Shot, which was a very nice blade. That doesn't mean it's legal of course, but it's doubtful anyone would do anything about it.
  9. How many layers of glue do you use?

2 layers for me, 1 on the blade and one on the rubber, never had an issue. I use the Donic Vario Clean.
  10. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

It's much easier to land the ball on the table when you spin the ball, and you can 'hit' much harder. If you spin the ball it curves downwards which gives you a much higher margin for error, whereas if you hit the ball like you do with short pips, the trajectory is very flat, so you need to be...
  11. Why do I suck at Table Tennis?

Are you using the short pimples shown in your profile (Meteor 845)? Nothing wrong with that, but pimple rubbers are much harder to spin with. Did your coach recommend this? Otherwise it just comes down to practice... we all go through this stage.
  12. Need advice on playing distance from table

Unless you're a defender, a player would not normally move back from the table unless they're forced back. Attacking from close in gives your opponent less time to react. If you prefer to loop from further back, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's probably easier for your opponent. Doing...
  13. How often should a very attacking Japanese penhold player change their rubber

Depends on your rubber and how well you look after it too. We have a fast attacking jpen player at our club who uses T05, he changes once a year. Use protection sheets and you'll get more life out of most rubbers.
  14. What materials or compositions give the feeling of holding the ball?

Kiso Hinoki gives exactly that feeling that the bat is holding the ball for longer, quite a few blades use it.
  15. Best Inverted Defenders Rubber for Backspin?

Victas VS 401 works remarkably well for this, I'd suggest in 1.5mm. It's great for pushing and produces very high spin, but also attacks really well. The sponge is hard, but the topsheet is quite soft, making it feel a lot less hard. It's more expensive then the options above though, it's also...
  16. DOWNFALL OF TABLE TENNIS, WHILE PICKLEBALL IS GAINING POPULARITY STEADILY.

I get your point, but spin actually plays quite a role in hardbat, it just takes a lot more effort to generate significant spin.
  17. Impressive match vs. Pips

Very nice, thanks for posting! Yes it's certainly clear his opponents knows how to handle pips... he's got a very nice style actually.
  18. Large Hands And Flared Handles

Yes they have nice solid handles, I like them too, and they're not even longer than standard handles (100mm), but because the neck of the blade is a little narrow, you can put your hand further up the blade, making it seem longer.
  19. Large Hands And Flared Handles

I'm surprised there are not more options out there for larger handles. Virtually all handle pieces are 100mm long, why not make some blade with longer handles for people with bigger hand, like 110mm? The handle thickness can be increased with grip tape (although not everyone like this, I get...
