  1. How do you return high, spinny, slow opening loops?

For high, spinny balls it’s important to move your body weight forward. At the end of the stroke your center of gravity should be really forward. You start with weight on right foot and end the stroke with weight on the left foot leaning forward. That will help you with getting the ball down.

  6. trying to pick a balanced setup

I think you have chosen a very balanced setup. In my opinion your chosen setup is better for someone coming from a premade racket, compared to the setups Michael recommend you. You have chosen one of the best rubbers in the world. The same rubbers that the worlds best players play with. They...

  9. Advice on badminton shoes (for table tennis use)

Yes! In my old club I had the same problem as you with a very slippery wooden floor. I can’t compare to other high-end shoes but compared to my cheap Stiga shoes it was like night and day. I’m very satisfied with the grip on all type of floors. I think the big difference between Z and 3 is that...
  10. Advice on badminton shoes (for table tennis use)

I had some kind of plantar fasciitis two years ago and realised I could not play more with my cheap Stiga shoes. I was on my way to buy the Yonex 65 z2, but when I tried them, I felt they were too high. I bought the Yonex Aures 3 instead (The earlier model of Z) and a basic Dr. Scholl insole...

  14. A happy accident – do i go for a wood blade?

Without knowing your play level, I think a change could be good for you, based on your story and result. I believe most players here on TTD would do better and improve faster by playing slower wooden blades. I believe that players who are still developing would do better with slower wooden...
  15. Darker Hinoki 5p-2a

I assume he means width and thickness. Width and thickness should be of more interest than thickness and length. Almost all handles are 100 and a few 102
  16. What song are u listening to now?

Great song! Made me think of this great song 🎶
  17. Hand grip when serving

Harimoto wants to stay close to the table and hit the ball immediately after bounce. I think those extra milliseconds are more important for his play style than a few extra percent of spin. Just like most women serve backhand to be ready for a close the table backhand game.
  18. H3 & H8-80 rubber weight

It’s possible your sheet absorbed more, perhaps 5-7 g of booster. A cut sheet normally adds a weight of around 3 g after booster.
  19. Hand grip when serving

Con: less potential for spin. Pro: no time needed to adjust grip, immediately ready for third attack
  20. Darker 5 CNF

Yes, I have tried it some more. It’s a nice blade! But I’m not ready to experiment during season. I don’t want to make the effort to adapt to it now, while I have league games. As I stated before, the speed and the arc are similar to my main blade Latika. The big difference is the softness of...
