  1. Butterfly rubbers

What's your backhand style/ability? Where about's in the UK do you play (any leagues?)
  2. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Agree with what you've said there @Brs. To clarify my earlier comments about Chinese rubbers being hard to use, I was specifically talking about Amit's standard/technique and other people who play like him. From the video, he's a good player, with what looks to be more "European" strokes...
  3. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

No worries - I always encourage everyone to give their opinion, even if it goes against the usual thinking. It's even better when someone states their level (as best they can, like you did), so anyone reading knows where the advice is coming from. I much prefer playing in hot conditions - I...
  4. Tenergy and Dignics life Span

I can't speak for Dignics (yet), but Tenergy does last a long time - Much longer than other rubbers in my experience, and justifies the price tag (ish). Everyone is different, but I find there is significantly less need to adjust your shots as the Tenergy gets older, compared with some of the...
  5. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

On this point, everyone is absolutely entitled to their own opinion, and I'm not trying to get you to change your own opinion...... But...... For any other novice players or beginners looking for advice..... As an experienced player who plays at a high level in the UK, getting any sort of...
  6. Blade Replacement - Carbon or All Wood ?

Firstly, Amit.... THANK YOU for posting a video (even if it's a couple of years old). This is the absolute minimum for any serious advice - It really makes a difference. You might play at a low level, but your ability from the video would indicate that your success rate is down to the fact you...
  7. Dwindling number

A few summer leagues I play in use the 2 person team best of 7 format. I would prefer this to be honest, and the only games that last until 10:30 ish are the super slow (or long) games.
  8. Dwindling number

The UK league is such a difficult thing to balance. One of the stronger leagues near me (Kettering) has adopted a new format this year. Still the same 3 person team with 9 singles and a doubles, but each match is just 3 ends (with each end counting as a point). I dislike this for 2 reasons...
  9. Dwindling number

In my example, it can range from the Wikipedia definition as: Working men's clubs are a type of private social club first created in the 19th century in industrialised areas of the United Kingdom, particularly the North of England, the Midlands, Scotland and many parts of the South Wales...
  10. Dwindling number

Yeah, it's exactly the same in the UK. Most noticeable is our local leagues, where some leagues had 7 or 8 divisions, they now have 2 or 3. Speaking to some of the older players, they put this down to the closure of lots of "working men" clubs - A lot of those sorts of clubs would have a team...
  11. I am in deep deep dilemma

This falls into the category of "if you have to ask, it makes no difference" You only asked about the Rakza's recently, so I'm not sure just how much you feel you've improved in that short time. I would suggest you try the Rakza's when they arrive (there's no harm) - If you hate them, just...
  12. Boll Allround Wood + Sriver combo opinion needed

I’m sure people get bored of me saying this, but if you can provide any video of you playing, the advice will be much more accurate. I’d avoid the TB ALC and T05 initially, but you may find you’d like to move up to that after a few months or so - It depends how quickly you get back into the...
  13. Boll Allround Wood + Sriver combo opinion needed

That’s a solid starting point. What level were you playing at before hand? I love Sriver for the stage after “beginner”, which often includes people coming back to the sport after some time away. It’s just a good all around rubber that is ideal for someone who has a decent foundation, but...
  14. First blade for begginer

Hey Ray, welcome to the sport! For your first “proper” bat, you want to be looking at something that is all wood (not carbon) and is classified as “Allround (or All-) There are absolutely tons of blades in this category, and the TB Control would fit the ball. More importantly, you want to...
  15. Barbie Dolls of 90s

Table Tennis barbie was super popular.
  16. i need explanation

So, Carl has already covered most things here. But to re-iterate, generally speaking, people asking for help with this sort of thing are "lower level" players - Which covers a wide level of abilities. In the UK (and I'm sure it's similar all over the world), there is a very big difference...
  17. i need explanation

Can this just be the default answer for everyone these days? lol. I know technology in some parts of the world are still behind others, but if you can access this forum, there's a good chance you can record a 2 minute clip and upload it!
  18. Are ESN rubbers necessarily bad and expensive?

Hey! it's been a while hasn't it 😁 My son is playing more and more, so I've had to read up about the equipment for more entry/intermediate players and thought I'd come back to this wonderful forum! The Harimoto blade was (is) OK..... I used it for about 5 months or so, but just found it a...
  19. Better to get Butterfly?

The problem always comes down to ability. The internet is pretty damn amazing. Being able to ask for advice from other enthusiasts when you have no one close to home and get answers quickly is fantastic. But it also means people over analyse the situation, listen to too many people/reviews...
  20. Are ESN rubbers necessarily bad and expensive?

What level do you play at? Generally speaking, it's usually a case of "if you have to ask, it doesn't matter what you get". Not always, but it's a pretty accurate rule of thumb! From the rubbers you've mentioned, I don't see you'll have any issues with any of them.
