  1. Help. My DHS sponges are shrinking

How long do you keep boosted H3 on?
  2. Benyamin Faraji 14 years old.

Maybe, but let's see what he does after this tournament first.
  3. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

That makes sooooo much sense then. No wonder the best performers are generally the juniors. Even those who now compete mostly with seniors like LSD and Miwa probably have more experience with the ball.
  4. What Spin is this serve?

Servers had crazy advantage back then, why would you willingly give that advantage today?
  5. Benyamin Faraji 14 years old.

Yes, yes, yes. His high toss hook serve is by far his biggest weapon. He usually serves it long and if you're not committed early on attacking it then it's very hard to control the direction of the return, opening it up to his FH attack. That leads to his second biggest weapon, which is his...
  6. What Spin is this serve?

That's the last resort though. If you don't make a decision re: your receive before the 2nd bounce then it's unlikely to be very high quality.
  7. What Spin is this serve?

It should be a little easier to see in person, for backspin the racket is moving forward and a bit down and the contact is usually near the top of the racket. For topspin the racket is moving sideways and a bit up and contact is nearer the handle. One thing I've found helpful is to look at...
  8. What Spin is this serve?

First 3 are clearly topspins, last one pretty clear backspin, the 4th one is a bit vague, it's mostly side with probably some topspin. The 4th serve I'd treat it as side top and probably would have to receive it a few times in games to find out exactly how much top is on it.
  9. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

That's nothing, @NextLevel played 19 matches in a day recently and he ain't 19 years old
  10. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

Can't say for sure about Butterfly, but at least as of China Smash a week ago he was still using black rubber on the FH side.
  11. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

When did Lim change his setup? He used to use W968+Hurricanes right? He's got a red rubber on the FH side now.
  12. dignics 05 vs. 09c.

I think the H3 37 works better on the W968, though admittedly I haven't tried the Vis + H3 37 combo. I feel that H3 37 is an acquired taste, it really felt terrible when I first tried it. The feeling is so muted, it's like unboosted harder H3 except so, so much worse. And that's after boosting...
  13. dignics 05 vs. 09c.

It's on the Butterfly website, this for example: https://www.butterfly-global.com/en/products/detail/06070.html https://www.butterfly-global.com/en/products/detail/06040.html
  14. dignics 05 vs. 09c.

D09c is harder, 44 degrees on the Butterfly scale compared to 40 degrees of the D05. I think he just meant it's both the Spring X sponge.
  15. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

So much for WCQ's weak mentality huh? 🤭
  16. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

WCQ had to fight in the men's teams in the Olympics after that loss though, and he didn't drop a match there. He also had a very bad loss against Iran but hasn't lost another since, and he sure as heck was under pressure after LJK's loss. I was thinking it's mental against Faraji, but now I...
  17. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

He's probably just feeling lost. It can happen when you're playing so unexpected poorly and you don't know how to fix it. The ball this tournament must be really different, don't think I've ever seen one with so many shocking results. I think it really shows who can adjust the best and...
  18. Is butterfly overpriced

They only approve topsheets, you're free to use whatever sponge. See how the H3 openly has 2 different types of sponge.
  19. Is butterfly overpriced

Interestingly ZJK talks about his equipment in this video and mentions that his Butterfly rubbers are custom made, that they're 3-4 degrees harder than commercial ones. This should be definitive proof that what the pros use is not the same as what we can get.
  20. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

The CNT men's team is vulnerable too, probably even more so. They'll need to get past a dangerous Korean team that almost beat them even with FZD and ML playing last year, and then probably face a team with LYJ and Kao.
