  1. Old vs new H3

Have you tried Victas Triple Double Extra? This is ‘proper’ tacky, gonna get much better quality control but price is higher. Loki N80 is also with a try, good price and excellent quality. Wang Hao’s ‘personal’ rubber (apparently!!). Orange sponge is very similar to H3 Neo, quality of top sheet...
  2. Please advise on my equipment upgrade

Great!!! Seems like you have your head screwed on properly!!! The coaches have worked with you and know your capabilities. They are definitely the 1st point of call !!! If you can, try other people’s set ups as well, then you’ll start to get an understanding of how different rubbers and blade...
  3. Please advise on my equipment upgrade

Hi K, Some footage of you playing would be great as per Carl’s request. What are you expecting from an equipment upgrade?? your not going to get anything with much more top end spin that the H3 Neo’s!! H3 Neo is a great rubber to learn with, and the blade is a good one as well !!! You could...
  4. Revolution nr. 3 how many layers? Will it stick?

It sticks very well, I usually use 2 on blade, 3 on rubber, if you’re getting bored waiting for layers to dry, use a hairdryer to speed things up a little. Revo 3 comes in 3 viscosities, (thickness) I normally use the ‘normal’ viscosity version. if done correctly, when replacing rubbers, it...
  5. Going from wood to carbon - Rasanter R47 replacement (tacky?)

Personally I think Rakza Z does have a catapult effect, pretty good catapult !! It way easier to play with this rubber away from the table than say H3 or even Golden Tango (GTPS version is bouncier than GT) When I tested T05/19 on a Viscaria and compared to Rakza Z on a Viscaria, playing similar...
  6. Going from wood to carbon - Rasanter R47 replacement (tacky?)

Hi Rakza Z has a high / v high throw angle, it’s tacky at first then the tackiness wears off slightly, but still retains some tackiness. Mounted on the V14 Pro it will be pretty quick, or at least that’s what I think!! I tried Rakza Z on a Viscaria and was surprised how fast it was!!
  7. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

Personally, I agree with BB that ‘Control’ is really all to do with the player in question, and how they can adapt and read the incoming balls etc. In one of the posts I think Pathfinder was mentioned, where they tested a couple of rubbers with different players, This is Preston Table Tennis...
  8. Loki Rubbers

Loki Arthur Asia and Europe are both good rubbers, a good different alternative to some of the other hybrid rubbers, maybe closer to the tacky hard sponge type rubbers, but when the sponge is engaged speed starts to improve. I think the best of the Loki rubbers is the N80, especially if you like...
  9. Adam Bobrow joins a California team to Cause TROUBLE at 888 Teams Championship !!

Haha, only saw the photo when I clicked ‘reply to Der’s post’ to ask what you meant!! Then the photo popped into existence!!!
  10. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

When reviewing equipment, as we know, it’s a persons opinion, and is relative to that person’s abilities and experience / judgement ETC How to measure ‘CONSISTENCY’?? and apply this to a review?? Again this is difficult to do!! The reviewer may have improved their technique, achieved better...
  11. Practicing for US Nationals 2021

Another great vid Brian!! The ‘irregular’ training routines are excellent especially for match play / real situations. A blend of ‘regular’ and ‘irregular’ drills is a great way to train!!!
  12. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

Agreed!! I was kinda hoping to have moved through the bracketed headings in order, or an order!!, but this is an open forum so people are free to post on what they want to when they want to!! For the ‘Science’ part, i was hoping to get a better understanding of some of the various factors that...
  13. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

I've noticed recently that there are a couple of 'conditions or surroundings' that have affected my consistency and quality. When serve practicing at home in the garage, everything is fairly closed in, the wall I face when serving is maybe 6 to 7 feet away (1.8 to 2.1m) the wall colour varies...
  14. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

Perhaps the term CONSISTENCY / CONSISTENT should be used rather than CONTROL when we write equipment reviews!! 😁
  15. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

From BB’s 1st post “The next step is to see how inconsistency in the stroke is magnified by equipment with higher spin and speed ratings. This what I am thinking about now. I am trying to find the right words. It isn't easy.” And the flip side could be ‘ how the results of inconsistency of...
  16. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

There are circumstances when the characteristics of a rubber can drastically change, from what I’ve read on the forum, the tacky rubbers are very intolerant of humidity, high humidity and can become sort of unplayable!! I’ve never experienced this, but apparently it is an unwanted reality in...
  17. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

SPIN - can be both considered to contribute to CONTROL AND LOSS OF CONTROL !!!
  18. #control (science / ability / perception / reality/ circumstanses) )

I think that maybe it’s not only the hardness of the set up, because the frictional properties are equally or more important. You could have a hard inverted anti spin rubber, would a pro be able to play high spin loops and be able to control them?? There seems to be, to a certain extent for some...
