  1. Ideas for an ideal venue?

Yeah, I think the OP was thinking more along the lines of the top 32 players in each Country who compete in their Nationals. Happy to stand corrected if I'm wrong - I think the US in unique in the participation it gets at their National Championships.
  2. Ideas for an ideal venue?

I actually think the Copper Box ticks a lot of boxes for a venue. You are never going to have somewhere which is small enough for "Nationals", but large enough for events like the World Cup. As I said in the other thread, you'd be better off giving away 1000's of free tickets to schools and...
  3. Butterfly Garaydia Series Discontuned?

How weird. I've just spoken to Tees Sport (UK Butterfly Distributors) who have confirmed it's now discontinued across Europe. Anything they have will be sold (which is why it's still available to buy), but no more will be made and they aren't in the Europe Catalogue.
  4. Should Paul Drinkhall get a bye into the quarter final??

To answer the original point - No. No one should get a bye through any rounds in an invitation only event. If people drop out, then yes..... Starting from the top, you can put the top seeds through the first round. Moving onto the "CopperBox attendance fiasco". For those of you outside of the...
  5. Butterfly Garaydia Series Discontuned?

Interesting! I wonder why they have taken them out of circulation in Europe. Here is the 2018 blade matrix
  6. Butterfly Garaydia Series Discontuned?

I know it’s still available from third parties (assume whilst stock lasts), but it’s not in the Europe Butterfly catalogue?
  7. Butterfly Garaydia Series Discontuned?

Just looked through the 2018 catalogue and it seems they are no more! Anyone have any news on it? Or are they still available elsewhere?
  8. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

I listened - It's still a completely irrelevant analogy to make. To summarise...... Persson is saying that "With Mercedes being the best team in F1..... They aren't going to tell the other teams what they are doing, and they will keep their advantage". He's referring to the Chinese H3 which no...
  9. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

The whole Formula 1 argument is irrelevant. If you want to continue with that train of thought, you should consider what he said "I'm not sure we would be able to use it anyway". So to carry on with the pointless F1 analogy, that's like saying "Even if Alonso was in the Mercedes car, he...
  10. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

Ding ding ding (not Ning..... but the sound of someone nailing it). This is everything anyone needs to know - If someone ever asks about H3 better than Euro/Jap rubbers, just copy and paste that. It's very misleading to have Pro players say that the Chinese H3 is "better" than what they have...
  11. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

I've just listened to the Gauzy piece on the "magical" Chinese rubber...... I have to say, I don't really agree with him. For starters, he goes from saying "it's better, and we don't have access to it"..... To saying "even if we did have access to it, we might not be able to use it". That's...
  12. World Team Cup 2018

I have to disagree here - LGL would be amazing to have as an analyst after the match - Heck, give him his own hour long show to analyse the different matches. But to listen to as a commentator..... He talks too much, and distracts from the game. Experienced players might benefit from the...
  13. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

I agree it's frustrating people can't get the same equipment as the Chinese National Team (hell..... I don't know why DHS don't just make them all Blue sponge and then no one would know!) But the same can be said in Tennis - You pick up any "signature" racket, and it will be a million miles...
  14. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

Yeah, the one thing I hope people get from this is to try it! H3 (Hurricane 3) is genuinely really cheap - Give it a try and see if you like it. I personally think an amateur at a high level will be able to adapt quite quickly (weeks rather than months - Providing they are training 2/3 times...
  15. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

Yep, agree NL. i guess I was slightly off topic, as I was responding to the people who often ask the differences, and which is better etc..... rather than “why doesn’t a pro change to a Chinese rubber”. in conclusion.... if you are a Pro...... get off the forum and go and practice! Your game...
  16. European Players & Tacky Rubbers

For those following the thread, and genuinely wondering "just why are Chinese rubbers 'this' or 'that' ", can I suggest you pick one up? It doesn't have to be H3, although it might as well be, because it's not very expensive! Try it out, see if you like it! I know people who have played EURO...
  17. Timo Boll will return to ITTF World Ranking #1 at age 37

Player head to head doesn't matter in my opinion (unless there is literally nothing else separating the players). Just because player X beats player Y every time they play, it doesn't always mean that player X is the better overall player - It just means that they have the beating of player Y...
  18. Timo Boll will return to ITTF World Ranking #1 at age 37

I think that anyone who becomes World Number 1 will always have that warm fuzzy feeling of being able to say they made it..... But deep down, they'll know that it's not real (not yet anyway). This conversation in a years time will have so much more credibility.
  19. World Team Cup 2018

ok, that makes sense. I guess from a Chinese point of view he’s amazing to have (a bit like Tony Romo commentating on the NFL). Either we we all need to learn Chinese, or LGL needs to become fluent in English
  20. World Team Cup 2018

On my phone, so apologies for not quoting. I wasnt in a blue tracksuit - But that guy sounds cool! Haha In regards to commentary, I actually don’t think having someone speak in a really technical way is the best thing for the game. LGL would be great to analyse the match afterwards (I can’t...
