  1. Reverse Penhold Backhand - RPB " Training In Progress"

For me it has helped to kinda try to open the blade a little by pushing down the thumb. Rpb blade is naturally very closed so if you push down the thumb on the blade it gets a few degrees more open and it gets easier to hit rpb.
  2. Reverse Penhold Backhand - RPB " Training In Progress"

Very good advice. For me learning RBP was actually quite easy as I came from shakehand, imo RPB is totally the same as shakehand backhand. I even read somewhere chinese teach young high level penhold players a shakehand backhand so they can learn RPB quick from there but not sure if that is...
  3. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

I have another question about BH underspin push. Should you push more straight across the body or take back the forearm across the chest first? See video for clarification what I mean: https://youtube.com/shorts/-_nHJRwLIR0?feature=share
  4. Petition to Change the disgusting Camera Angle

I think the reason for the angle is simply saving money and not because ITTF/WTT think it is superior. You only need a single fixed camera (basically a glorified webcam) and you don't need to pay a cameraman who is moving the camera and zooming in and out. So it isn't really an awareness or...
  5. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Great video. He said serve reverse pendulum or backhand serve into short forehand of right handed shake hand player, right? As a lefty the would be a regular pendulum or inside side spin serve, right? Also regarding backhand serve many penhold guys of the 70s and 80s did that but the younger...
  6. Drills: Half long serve return and Forehand atack

What does that mean? Kinda like brush a lot?
  7. Drills: Half long serve return and Forehand atack

I think returning half long serves is really an advantage of penhold because as your hand is above the handle you have more space over the table and you can play a loop where shake hand players have to push or flick.
  8. Korean Amateur J-Penners go at it - feat. Park-PD

Yeah that is a great channel, some of them have pretty good and create traditional penhold backhands. Pretty sad that Jpen is extinct at the world class level
  9. FH Loop Free Arm Movement - Elbow back or Hand form triangle

Found a video of Hugo here https://youtu.be/LiXUN_j1Zek Didn't really find good videos by the women
  10. FH Loop Free Arm Movement - Elbow back or Hand form triangle

Do you have videos of those players so we can compare?
  11. Penhold sanding + Index finger and thumb placement

I like it sanded a lot on my index finger side (lefty). However I made the mistake of using a knife to try to cut away a little more and cut away too much. Then I used UV resin glue to fill it up again:) https://ibb.co/FW2b0W2
  12. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Nice match and very different styles, rpb looper vs flat tpb drives kinda like a jpen player
  13. How do you stop people from lobbing?

I have no experience with that but here is a world class wheelchair player playing a pretty good player (2100 German TTR according to video) https://youtu.be/Q-RlmS8GMy0 Obviously that player doesn't really lob but still the wheelchair player often uses a kinda soft block directly off the...
  14. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

I have not analyzed but I feel I'm losing a lot of points on unnecessary errors on return of serve or "third ball" (my reply to opponents return of serve). At higher levels you need more shot quality but I feel at lower levels you can win a lot by just always play your first two shots on the...
  15. Penhold sanding + Index finger and thumb placement

Taking off material is easier than adding material:). So don't sand down too much wood at once.
  16. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Maybe to play one sided and twiddle? Ni xialiang does that with a long pip and is still like top 50 in the world at almost 60 years old, maybe that would be effective with an anti too https://youtu.be/1JIKgoW31Ck
  17. Alexis Lebrun is the 2022 French National Champion

He definitely is really good. I think hos younger brother always was considered more talented and might still end up being better but alexis made a big jump in performance and for now has overtaken his brother.
  18. Ma long vs Fan Zhendong

The Ranking system is slightly unfair, especially against chinese guys but I like that it forces chinese guys to play more tournaments in europe. With the old system many chinese guys could just stay home all year and work on improving their game while euro players had less time for practice as...
  19. Dang Qiu

Are there 5 spots at team worlds and euros? Do all 5 actively play or are they alternates in case of injury?
  20. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Thanks those are good videos but I was looking more about regular underspin push like in short return of serve. This one here is pretty good but I wonder if there are more videos like that. https://youtu.be/IvO-0md6vhU Do you generally want to do a push more like a "stab" with the tip of the...
