  1. ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 2023, Chengdu, 12/4-10

The biggest development today, as we all know, is that Hayata switched back to the red Gyo-en handle blade against the French team. Clearly she is trying to fluster her opponents.
  2. Aliexpress Singles Day Sale 2023

Ah, my mistake. I thought the cores were the same Ayous. Ayous is slightly harder and denser than kiri but slightly. To measure frequency you will want to download an app called "Advanced Spectrum Analyzer Pro" on your phone. Here's some instructions I found: Here's a long discussion about...
  3. Olah Benedek (Finland)

Many may know him as the arch-nemesis and final national-level boss for the Pongfinity crew.
  4. Aliexpress Singles Day Sale 2023

That's very bizarre how moving the ALC layer towards the core would result in significantly less control when all else is kept the same compositionally. Did you get a chance to test the frequency of both blades before gluing? Appreciate the review.
  5. What do you think of Yuna Ojio's style?

Big fan of both Ojio sisters. Haruna has one of the most aesthetically pleasing chopping styles I've seen. Hopefully she can find some more consistency with her attacking since it's a big weakness in her ability to compete at higher levels. Yuna I first encountered when I was just getting...
  6. Seeking Equipment Advice for Rapid Improvement in Table Tennis

This is a pretty sobering realization after taking some coaching and making TT my chosen sport/hobby over the past year. I like to think I play and practice a lot. I've logged my classes/hours and I'm at about 70 coached sessions, and have gone to the club on my own about 70 times outside of...
  7. Sanwei on AliExpress?

It's a feature of international corporations. Our helpful Sanwei representative is employed by Sanwei Sport which is likely their foreign (outside of China) operations and a completely different entity than whatever Sanwei's China operations are. This is a legal fiction, and ultimately it's the...
  8. Moon 12 Blue on sale!

Also found this video which I find interesting for two reasons: 1. The video description copies and pastes @Attitude 's review of the rubber word-for-word. Completely plagiarized. 2. The paddle that the coach uses to feed balls is full @Gozo to the next level, being Hulk-green and comically...
  9. Moon 12 Blue on sale!

Here's a good indepth review of Moon 12 Blue by Pingpongplus, prolific Indonesian reviewer. (turn on Auto-translate subtitles) Some key points: - Used the Medium soft version - Rubber is more like Japanese rubber with some bounce - Recommeded for backhand; get seal of approval - Good grip...
  10. Aliexpress Singles Day Sale 2023

You can get table tennis rubbers ribbed now? For whose pleasure are these ribbed for? Pretty soon there will be flavored rubbers if this trend continues.
  11. OFF- Kevlar Blades

Why specifically Yinhe Carbokev? Kevlar is just the Dupont brand name for their aramid fiber. If they're mixing Carbon and Kevlar together, than this just means that it's some weave of aramid and carbon. There are many different ways in which these two fibers can be weaved and they all produce...
  12. Advice please: 7-ply all-wood blade for my son

I think the difference is more stark when you factor in the price in China and pick out some comparable blades. A Fextra is about $18 right now on Aliexpress but is even cheaper than that domestically. It's comparable (and preferable to some) to a Clipper Wood that's $65. You can get 5 Fextras...
  13. Help to make a racket for control/All-round

The #1 top selling 5 ply in China is the Yinhe MC-2. It's pretty cheap at $15-20. You can pair it with cheap rubbers from Yinhe, 729, or Reactor. Here'a decent combo for under $30 on aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832710965433.html
  14. Advice please: 7-ply all-wood blade for my son

I understand your point of view, but I think your assumption that a company like Stiga has higher consistency and quality of materials is erroneous. For a long period of time Stiga was reknown for having awful quality control. It perhaps had the worst reputation for splintering and delamination...
  15. 7 ply all-wood with Koto outer and Ayous intermediate and core

Did some research on blades today and realized that the DHS Fang Bo All-Wood fits OP's criteria. Showed up on a top-10 list for value Chinese blades here: https://www.toutiao.com/article/6646996963038331396/ Koto-Ayous x5-Koto 6.3mm thickness It's on sale right now on tt11 for $40
  16. Why haven't SEA countries had many strong TT players?

Also don't forget about the time Iba's room got flooded with water due to bad plumbing. It's almost as if one of WTT's main goals is to bring business to poorly run hotels in BRICS countries
  17. San Francisco looking for training partner.

He's probably just using a GoPro with a forehead mount.
  18. Advice please: 7-ply all-wood blade for my son

So what? I've owned a couple of Nittakus (Acoustic and Ludeack) and a made-in-Sweden Yasaka. I currently play with a $20 Yinhe U-2. We're talking literal plywood here. There's no technological advantage that any country will have to make the blades play better. The only difference is...
  19. My experience with Chinese rubbers

No it's not, confusingly. It's more like 52d+ on the ESN scale. I will eventually open my 47d Bloom Power and measure it with a durometer, but that won't be until next season.
  20. Why haven't SEA countries had many strong TT players?

Yeah I remember that when Iba Diaw explained the "full package" requirement of the WTT, I was shocked by how exclusionary and unfair it all sounded. No Vietnamese player could afford that on their own without a rich benefactor or government support.
