  1. WTT Singapore Smash 2023

This is getting more and more off-topic but I'd argue that "Chinese" is not a language. Mandarin and Cantonese are not mutually intelligible. This makes them less related than say Portuguese and Spanish. Up to the early 20th century, Mandarin wasn't yet made the official language of China, and...
  2. Sample Time

The newer Rxtons being for BH use makes some sense and I like that explanation a lot better. Still doesn't fully explain the unhelpful naming of the new BH rubbers. Plus and special don't really help. Having the new Rxton 3 be blue and pink helps, but the name still stays the same confusingly...
  3. Acoustic 82g vs 90g?

I guess my Acoustic has competition for the lightest in the world. Along with being light it was pretty soft too as measured by frequency analyzer coming in at 1205 hz. I feel like it's a really nimble blade. Hand switches are fast and it goes quickly to the ball on reactionary shots. But it...
  4. Sample Time

Maybe Loki produced too many of the original Rxton 1/3/5s and they weren't selling well. I saw an older thread saying that they were released and costed around $17 at the time. I just picked up a Rxton 5 for around $8. Loki Rxton 3 Pink and Blue getting some good reviews. Maybe they're hoping...
  5. Should Ruwen Filus be penalised and suspended?!

Possibly unrelated but I found this match from the 2021 TT Cup Final: Filus had 4 match points against Aruna and wound up losing 6 straight points to lose the match, showing a lot of frustration all the while. He might've had this on his mind. They were Bundesliga teammates recently too...
  6. Sanwei Fextra 7

So the Fextra 7 is indeed factory sealed? I've read threads where people seem convinced that it isn't. Good to hear the truth straight from a Sanwei rep. I don't know how long the Fextra was sitting on the shelf before I bought it, but it came sealed in shrink wrap which I only opened maybe 4...
  7. Sanwei Fextra 7

Thank you for the warning. May I ask what glue you were using which caused the splintering? Also, were you able to solve the issue with the Fextra or did you just switch to a different blade?

  9. Sanwei Fextra 7

I have a Fextra 7 lying around unused that I'd really like to try out. Do I need to lacquer/seal the blade before gluing? Has anyone had or even heard of splintering with these blades? My blade looks very well made, especially for the low price.
  10. WTT Singapore Smash 2023

Did the ref really give Yuan a yellow and then a red card for constantly stalling on the serve receive? Definitely was excessive but don't think I've ever seen that before.
  11. Should Ruwen Filus be penalised and suspended?!

Was wondering when this thread would pop up. I'd be shocked if he wasn't suspended for that. One of the more dangerous racket throws recently in terms of how hard it was thrown and how close it got to hitting someone. The only saving grace is that he's a chopper so he probably threw it with...
  12. Most bizarre table tennis match ever?

Favorite moment in the match. The zoom in on Jaehyun's coach at the end is hilarious.
  13. Most bizarre table tennis match ever?

Legit the most fun pro match I've seen since getting into the sport a few months ago. Never seen a guy switch hands 4 times in a single point lol. Right now, I'm obsessing over trying to develop a technically sound Chinese style for both my strokes and footwork. But a part of me wishes I end up...
  14. Yinhe Mercury 2 vs 9000E

That doesn't sound all too bad either. Sounds like training wheels for a rubber that's a bit dead or a bit hard to play out the package. Small boost to ease you into it.
  15. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

I had C-1 and S-1 on my Acoustic and hated it. Feels almost like the Acoustic had some built in catapult and on top of that the bouncy rubber made it unpredictable and uncomfortable. You might want to try Chinese style or hybrid rubber on the Acoustic. I have cheap yinhe rubber on the Acoustic...
  16. Yinhe Mercury 2 vs 9000E

I was surprised by the amount of curl I got from it after 2 layers of baby oil. Expected a slight curl but it wound up looking very similar to pictures I've seen done with haifu. Im also surprised that baby oil is only a mild booster as this has completely changed the rubber. It's a couple...
  17. Yinhe Mercury 2 vs 9000E

A bit less than a tablespoon of baby oil on the sponge of the rubber and then spread it evenly with an applicator (the applicator absorbed some of the oil too). Wait 8 hours or overnight. Repeat process for second layer. But after second layer, let it dry for 2 days before gluing it onto the blade.
  18. Yinhe Mercury 2 vs 9000E

Just wanted to share my experience boosting the Yinhe Mercury 2. I used a medium hard sheet that had about 30 hours of use already. First off, Mercury 2 does not have a fragile sponge. I pulled the rubber off the blade with no issues and also removed all the old glue just fine with zero damage...
  19. Developing player with some potential :)

Thank you for taking the time to go into detail about this. 1. 3 times a week, 1 hour each week of coaching. 2. I recently started playing about 4 or 5 hours per week outside of coaching. 3. I didn't play much outside of coaching mostly because I couldn't find a group to play with. But my coach...
  20. Grip tape

I always thought the thumb and forefinger are providing the vast majority of the feeling of the blade. Those parts aren't covered by grip tape in any scenario. I have grip tape on my Acoustic (partly because of size and partly because of sweat issues playing in hot and humid Vietnam). I...
