When Qiu Dang walked into the court, I couldn't recognize him because he was not wearing his headband lol.

Well Miwa's quality and selection of attack and placement went way up in the 4th game. Probably a combination of that and expedite pressure on Honoka made it moot. But like I said, these are the limitations of choppers when they play consistent attackers. The Harimoto siblings have an amazing...

Its interesting how the expedite has affected Miwa. She is playing the same way on both her serve points and on Honoka's serve points. It will be interesting if this mindset change gets it done. No coach to remind her of the nuance.

Always entitled. I used to hope for it too just to keep diversity in the game. But this new ball... well it probably helps the choppers stay in rallies but it doesn’t do much other than that.
  5. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Unfortunately, Honoka is a chopper and a chopper is a chopper, no matter how much ability they have. If the attacker is more consistent and able to hit the right shots, the chopper is always on the back foot. Of course the attacker being able to do this is the open question. But Miwa's game...

I know this may annoy some people but why does "dumbness" do so well? Is it because it is a prerogative of fandom to be abusive towards players performing under the fastest and highest pressure conditions? Or are the players really "dumb"? Nameless anonymity encourages ridiculous statements.
  7. Butterfly Zyre 03

Flexible and soft are both options in my experience. Anything that increases the ball holding feeling. Flexible will probably give the best result away from the table.if the blade is faster but soft and stiff can give good results closer to the table.
  8. R16 BRA 1-2 NOR Full-Time, FIFA World Cup 2026

Yeah and after @Takkyu_wa_inochi wrote that, she went on to win the WTTC singles bronze in 2025. Its fun to speculate but it is good to remember some of the inconvenient facts for such narratives. One close loss to a player who by all accounts had a tournament performance that was unlikely for...
  9. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Yeah, 18 year olds are calcified fish, they have no chance to take steps towards new behaviors, their past is their destiny. How one lost can't show progress, it is just the loss that matters.
  10. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Yeah he gets zero credit for coming back from 0-2 down because he lost.
  11. Butterfly Zyre 03

Put Zyre on both sides of a Garaydia ALC. This is likely where the rubber will stay for the long term as I work on optimizing my technique for it. On this blade, it is clearly in my zone and I get good spin. I need to find the right practice to optimize the kaboom shots and the touch shots...
  12. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

He and Togami need to visit the same coach to figure it out lol.
  13. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

I think in this event, both Milos and Kay have sent warning shots.
  14. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

I felt she had a good forehand circa 2022 when she got the Asian Cup bronze. Tweaks since them but nothing radical. Before that, not so much. She has always been better at counterspinning than opening.
  15. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

LYJ just got consistent and Sora was playing a different player at the end of game 5.
  16. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Honoka unleashed her "You are not Sun Yingsha" level. Great comeback!
  17. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Battle of lefties or choing coaches? You decide.
  18. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Milos 3- 0 Yukiya. A reminder that big forehand is not useful when your opponent makes it harder for you to use it and your energy level is low.
  19. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

Harimoto still afraid to back up and take big shots against a lower ranked player - this is interesting...
  20. WTT London Star Contender - October 2025

That's a pretty strong opinion on a many time European top 12 champion. 2021 Olympics QF as well. His game has limitations in finding the forehand pivot but he is a strong player, he has beaten Truls fairly consistently.
