  1. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

Hugo was in the same boat until this year, and LYJ is still in the same boat I believe so LJK is just hard to kill. The 6-2 point with the finishing backhand is going to go viral for sure.

Does Harimoto have a chance against LSD with that display by LSD vs Duda?
  3. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

I think this oversimplifies things a bit. Amy's forehand has always been a bit flatter naturally, and more speed than spin oriented and while this isn't great, it has some strengths - it is difficult to rally with when the timing is on, and she has gotten better spinning with it, whether she...

It's clearly an area for growth, clearly something that improves the quality of the forehand topspin and also clearly something that they all are allergic to working on. Though to be fair, Lily has gone from terrible to serviceable.

In extra-fairness, he probably knocked out the one with the best chance of making an upset.
  6. how to ignore some members

I was looking for this recently. @UpSideDownCarl, this is what I was looking for.
  7. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Yes, but it doesn't imply 30% either unless I am missing something. USATT is't precisely an ELO system though it has some similar foundations. Here is a link to the table. https://usatt.simplycompete.com/info/ratings
  8. San Francisco looking for training partner.

I believe so. That is where the better player gets zero pts.
  9. San Francisco looking for training partner.

I think the probability of lower rated player winning given 200 pts USATT rating difference since it is about zero at 237pts is lower than 30% in the USATT system.
  10. Major League Table Tennis (MLTT)

Pitchford planning to play on Friday tells you what he really thinks about his chances in Macao. But if he beats Truls by some miracle, good luck with that...
  11. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

The loss might have been deliberate for all we know. She and Kihara conveniently lost at the same time. The WTT rules around defaults kind of encourage it over defaulting.
  12. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

It's nothing new, he goes back and forth between weight gain and loss depending on motivation. I think the retirement of Ma Long has probably given both himself and the coaching staff significant motivation to reinvest in Liang playing at his best again.
  13. San Francisco looking for training partner.

The main difference is that if they are pros they are often given stuff to test that can take equipment largely out of the equation as they have done the tests that get them to a good place. Sponsors can send them a bunch of rubbers and a bunch of blades or they can go to a table tennis store...
  14. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

In America just because you are at a club doesn't mean you can only work with that club's coaches or players. When Kanak works with 888, they are going to remove his Butterfly logo too? Let's stop this.
  15. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

You can go to any club in America and work with a coach. It has nothing to do with club politics, their parents were not broke then. These players have been importing and switching clubs and coaches since they were kids. The first time I met Jishang Liang in 2011, he was Allen and Amy's coach...
  16. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

There are lots of choppers in the US. Kewei Li still runs a club in Houston. Its not about whether she can but whether they are willing to invest the time and money.
  17. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

Very disgusting to see this. But it is what it is, sometimes you can decide to work on only what you enjoy, not what will really improve your game.
  18. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

Amy Wang makes me wonder what makes a top player address a weakness like playing against good choppers. Don't they think it will help their technique? Or do they just think it isn't worth it with so few choppers in the game that they should focus on other players and let the top players deal...
  19. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

She was a damn good player, a bit of a throwback, but without the cancer (and Mima Ito), she was next in line for Tokyo.
  20. WTT Champions Macao 2024, 9/9-15

Maybe she is still recovering from injuries. At this point, if she meets someone who she can't break down on the backhand diagonal, the match becomes a slog.
