  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The old backhand is not as bad as you think. The new backhand will still need to be trained vs incoming topspin close to the table so you can comfortably block and even transition into forehands. All that said, you are clearly on a better path and headed in the right direction. One of the...
  2. Ma long return?????????

You do remember that Ma Long was undefeated in Super League before he got injured and withdrew?
  3. Ma long return?????????

I said the same thing about Zhang Jike in 2016. Then someone pointed out to me that in every qualification cycle for the Olympics, China sends the WTTC winner(s) for the tournaments before the Olympics for singles and has never let a winner in that cycle not attend the Olympics. Both for men...
  4. My BH topspins are very flat, need more arc and spin

    1) If you have seen Michael Maze play a backhand topspin, you will know it doesn't look anything like that. 2) The instruction for stance has him side on the the table and taking the racket to the the side of him but when he plays the stroke, he is square to the table and plays the whole...
  5. Ma long return?????????

He won't be playing to qualify, he will be playing to make sure he can get into form under competitive stress.
  6. Ma long return?????????

And those rules virtually guarantee Ma Long a spot in the 2020 Olympics barring a major setback. He will play the Marvelous 12 for practice but he is virtually guaranteed a spot regardless of where he places. USually they take 3 players or so and leave the rest to coach's discretion.
  7. My BH topspins are very flat, need more arc and spin

In my view, both videos are confusing and poor.
  8. My BH topspins are very flat, need more arc and spin

Arc simply means circular strokes. If your ball has no arc, you haven't figured out how to turn the ball. It's really as simple as that. Most of the time, it means either your elbow or your shoulder is not aiding the circular turn of the stroke. The wrist tends to follow the shoulder/elbow...
  9. Please recommend blade softer than Timo Boll Spirit

Try fastarc g1 instead of Rakza 7, Rakza has a bit too much catapult.

It is very important to teach adults non-inverted, both to play with and to play against. Some may already use it and those that don't will like them more if they understand the rubbers. They are also very common amongst adult players so it is a win all round.
  11. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

With those sensitive shots, use thinner contact. As for faster blade, playing distance is one of the considerations.
  12. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

I would actually argue that the G1 is spinnier and faster. Less arc on some shots but arc isn't the only component of spin. Mastering something like G1 will be a good example of how advanced your technique really is.

I know the Federer fans will come for my head but am I the only one who thinks Djokovic is the most complete and probably the most dominant amongst the great players of this era? I mean Djokovic is the moat dominant player in an era of dominant players like Nadal Federer and Murray while when...
  14. How to return a fast short pendulum serve to the wide bh

Dominus7, Being able to return serves properly requires extensive coaching and experience. The first thing is to be able go read the spin on the serve and depending on the level of the opponent this can be hard. Then the next thing is to be able to create the racket angle and the stroke that...
  15. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

I think there is a difference, it is up to you to see whether it fits your game. G1 is the most popular rubber in Japan for a reason. As for the equipment, you can use a Timo Boll ALC anytime you want to. It just depends on whether it fits your game or not. If you are looping competently and...
  16. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Change the Baracuda to Fastarc and keep the Grubba.
  17. Viscaria vs long 5

Looks like a Yasaka Alnade just like Fan Zhendong's blade looks like a Stiga Infinity.
  18. China Super League 2018

I know my point is that everyone loses.
  19. China Super League 2018

LGY lost both his matches after showing good form on his trip to Hungary. I know what you mean, but FZD is still the top performer in Super League.
  20. Is double inverted the most viable setup to play?

I have actually used them. To use LP especially at a skillful level takes practice and time but it is not *much* harder than inverted depending on what you are trying to do. Getting to a very high level is what is really hard. That inverted has serious advantages is just the nature of table...
