  1. Thomas Weikert has been elected as the ITTF President 2017!

Never questioned the authenticity of the vote.
  2. Thomas Weikert has been elected as the ITTF President 2017!

IT's the Japanese table or table 3. The Japanese usually request a table for their teams to play on and cover that table with their press when their players are featured on it specially. You would have seen this at the WTTTC last year in Malaysia as well. Table 1 was also deserving of special...
  3. Thomas Weikert has been elected as the ITTF President 2017!

Heard it was 118-90 or something like that - elections are not usually that close!
  4. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

    Tough for England. Drinkhall???

I didn't ask - he did make a stroke correction that makes sense to me but incorporating it into my game will take some time. The one thing I am going to do much more is diversify my play - I went from being a flat player to a spin player and I think I now need to get more purposefully better at...

That's why you don't learn as much as you can, archo. You always have the answers, so why ask the important questions?
  7. German Association Reject Ovtcharov & Mizutani's doubles bid! WTTC 2017!

Timo and Ma Long are in the same quarter as Xu Xin and Fan Zhendong. So it might not make a difference. It shows what happens when you don't play doubles enough to get a seeding and keep hoping to catch a break.

Yes, he wanted to kill me with footwork drills, but I told him I just wanted to learn a few tips. The level of spin he produces when he loops is just different, reminds of me when I tried to play against Syzmanski of Poland in a handicap match. I don't even see the ball when he power loops it...
  9. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

Those pages hardly work, especially when they are 12 pages deep like they are in the prelim rounds. Weikert for President (sure... not that Saive will do much better).
  10. Kong Linghui being sued?!

Gambling is an issue, but the bigger issue is being in debt from it. Not the kind of thing you want from someone on your staff.

Went to Westchester on Sunday. Had planned to go with a buddy so I told Azeez I would be there. Unfortunately, my buddy started Ramadan and didn't feel well and pulled out. I haven't played well at all because I lack training but I went to Princeton and played decently the night before...
  12. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

Anatomic and ST are old. Talking about recent ones.
  13. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

You mean 95g + is not heavy? The three recent ones I have seen are 95, 96 and 98g.
  14. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

If the carbon layer is thin, it may not be faste than a Korbel. It might just vibrate a little less. It all depends on what the blade designer is trying to do. You can actually test blades for sound response with software to see their nodes and sweet spot behavior. I know one web forum guy...
  15. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

There is a junior I know who does this all the time. I have seen him win points with it on matches.
  16. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

Carbon doesn't magically make a blade faster. Thickness and overall blade design still matter.
  17. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

The mistake I made was to switch to my back up Vega Pro to get more experience using it. The blade is much lighter and different. Now I am back with my original, I am fine again. The one thing I am noticing is that I like a narrower neck. The Vega Pro and the Tibhar KJH are similar in that...

You have to learn to loop over the ball with fast strokes . It is the biggest problem that makes people back up so much. Their racket head speed is slow so they need to play upward strokes.
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Unless you loop with power, and sometimes even if you do, it is hard to hit elbows or wide angles when you are 10 feet off the table. The opponent can see your shot coming a mile away.

It's hard for me to give advice to people who habitually back off the table to loop, especially when their opponent is not looping. My game is serve and attack or serve and try to set up attack, not serve and push or serve and lob or serve and soft loop or serve to rally.
