  1. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

If he is taking your #1 to 5 games playing legitimate matches and you are #4 and truly believe that you are the same level, then someone is being hustled.

MichalZ, That's obviously a good player.
  3. Jun Mizutani and Samsonov Training - Russian League 2017

This is like looking at the 6 months where Federer was playing badly while injured and focusing on that. You seem to forget that he was injured during the Olympics. All these results just come after and his focus is really on WTTC. It's like looking at Federer in 2016 and saying he should...

That's what happens when you don't have a club any more - your game goes down because you don't get to play the good players anymore because they don't come to your club. And my health hasn't encouraged me to travel out. I basically coach two hours twice a week these days and that is it. The...
  5. Plastic ball vs Celluloid ball rubber wear..

Mine looks really bad. But it plays really well. BTW, it plays extra awesome with Dandoy Bioboost. Don't ask me how I know, I just do. ;)
  6. Jun Mizutani and Samsonov Training - Russian League 2017

It's a basic fun warm up and they get more accurate as it goes along - there is never a super high level of intensity.
  7. Plastic ball vs Celluloid ball rubber wear..

But I also get the impression that the increased surface friction and less spin potential make the used rubbers usable for longer. I can loop with rubbers that I would have discarded ages ago with the cell ball. Or maybe my technique is just better and I am overthinking it.
  8. Jun Mizutani and Samsonov Training - Russian League 2017

Federer did not win a big title since 2012 - no one other than the Chinese has won big Titles since Samsonov in 2009. You think the fact that Federer got luck in 2017 now makes you right after the fact? Or you would have been wrong in Samsonov had beaten Mizutani despite being injured? When...

What kind of hair spray do you use for protecting yours?
  10. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

Haha... IMO, Korbel has better balance than SPW. I could only use Hexer confidently on the SPW given its weight.
  11. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

The big difference is that in internal tournaments, they have coaches by their side. In international tournaments, they do not. That is why FZD struggles against ML internationally, he doesn't have a coach to reassure him on the tactical and psychological front. Whether this tournament or the...
  12. Jun Mizutani and Samsonov Training - Russian League 2017

Yeah. He is still playing great table tennis. Still capable of great results. Just has more bad days because of his age. I have never understood the argument that playing past your prime hurts your legacy.

Running shoes are bad for TT. Cross trainers are better.
  14. Bty Petr Korbel (Hungary) vs Tibhar Stratus Power Wood

I am switching to the Korbel. There is something about the head heaviness and the weight that makes it feel better when I loop. Hopefully, my shoulder will survive it.

  16. Dhs ABS balls

You gotta move beyond this if you want to get good, your timing should be tied to the ball bounce. The spin, I understand that is to each his own. But you could hear CNT arguing that the Nittaku ball spins less than the DHS ball especially when generating backspin for short push.
  17. Xiom Extreme S

    Are you jealous?
  18. Xiom Extreme S

You must have excellent training partners and coaching to have achieved an advanced level in 3 years. I do know a couple of people who did it so it is quite possible even if quite difficult.
  19. Xiom Extreme S

The TSPW is an interesting blade - it is rated OFF- and some people think it is straight OFF. I can see both views, but I am more in the OFF- camp. The Extreme S is also an OFF blade at best - these are not the days of the 38mm ball.
  20. Playing against pips or anti spin

As DerEchte pointed out, it is important to play them with your particular set of skills and see how things shake out. I find that if people play them ling enough with a few general rules in mind based on understanding how pips and anti generally work, they develop their own understanding and...
