  1. Politics - Any and All Political Discussions Not Really Related to TT

I agree. I mean, I get the people who want no politics on a TT message board, but there's a reason all sorts of message boards have a politics sub-threads or sub-forums. Politics affects every aspect of life, so no matter the topic of focus there's always gonna be someone discussing the...

Above a certain level, higher arc becomes a lot easier for opponents to deal with as well though. The ball has to travel a longer distance so more time to prepare, and then it's also easier to just keep the racket high and counter loop downward if you're closer to the table.

https://www.mmtta.io/alameda https://sites.google.com/site/concordtabletennis/ The Alameda club is a dedicated TT facility, Concord is two nights a week in a basketball gym. If you just want some lessons with him it might be better to just go to Concord as he charges less there (presumably...

Yeah the motion is not very big, it's actually pretty subtle. After thinking about it and shadow practicing with it for a bit, I actually think this is what the coaches meant by asking me to relax my shoulder. It's not something that you can really see on video unless you're specifically...

I had my 2nd coaching session of the week on Sat, and once again, I feel like I learned a ton. With this coach, who's an older guy, he has a different approach. With my other coach, he would ask me what I want to work with, then we'd do that stroke and he'd point out every time something is...

I had another coaching session on Tues, will have one more on Sat. I've made a ton of progress on the things I've been working on. On the BH side I'm doing much better with relaxing before the shot as well as progressively accelerating during my stroke instead of just going from 0-100 in a...

I recently got a LJK ADC inner R-code. I know what you're thinking, yes, the name really is necessarily that long. There's ADC (aramid) and ALC variants, inner and outer fiber variants, and within the ADC inner variant there's further the regular, R-code, S-code, and 001 variants. Being...

Can't say for all the blades but mine do feel different. The regular HL5 feels like it bends but doesn't deliver all the stored power back when it snaps back, whereas the W968 does. The Q968 has the similar feel, but doesn't bend quite as easily. That's both good and bad. Good in that with lower...

Actually, I'd like to revise my previous assessment. I came home, sanded the wings a bit and then compared them directly, the LJK's handle is actually a bit thicker in the direction perpendicular to the blade face. It's wings/shoulder region are fairly narrow comparable to DHS blades. Overall...

I've only held it briefly so far but both the handle size and the shoulder feel similar to the Q968, which has a fairly typical DHS handle.

About 1350 Hz, similar to my Q968, so gonna be interested with the comparison. I just finished sealing it. My Q968 needs new rubbers so I'll glue the old ones onto this one and do a comparison. I shaved the Q968's head slightly so should fit this slightly smaller blade.

Finally had a real practice session yesterday. I had to reboost my old H3 and use it as my new OS H3 was just boosted and wasn't ready to be glued yet. It was like the 4th or 5th boost, and it felt wya too soft, but still so much better than the bad sheet of new H3. I spent a good amount of...

Oh yeah, that BH thing is definitely something I've been trying to do. It's just there are so many things that need to be worked on. I also need to relax my shoulder, use my arm to drive the motion and make the wrist motion more passive, and as always, need to work on timing. On the equipment...
  14. Technique discussion fh topspin

What you're doing theoretically doesn't really affect quality because you do have good weight transfer and body movement as others have noted, so the power is there. The issue is that the extra arm movement does not add any power but instead increase your stroke length (in terms of time). So...
  15. Technique discussion fh topspin

Here is a picture of your FH loop (9:49 in your latest vid), which is pretty typical of your FH loops. The idea here is that the arm shouldn't go past the body during a standard backswing. If you draw a line between your shoulder and the elbow, and then draw another between the shoulder and your...
  16. Technique discussion fh topspin

First point sounds wrong, unless what he means is don't bend your waist, but FH loops usually requires loading the right leg, particularly against backspins, which results in the right shoulder dipping a bit lower. Second point is correct in a sense. ML and FZD all have the elbow beside their...

Whenever I play against Zyre, I always find the ball coming back to me have a surprising amount of spin, often causing me to raise my elbow when relooping when it jumps at me.
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yeah I figured that too, so I'm actually gonna stick with my current setup for a while longer. Adding equipment changes will just make things more confusing. Speaking of equipment, my primary coach tried out my FZD/D09/D05 setup and he said a lot of the issue with my trouble hitting through...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I had a regular coaching session on Monday, worked a lot on the BH loop, but something still felt off. Another coach watched me and had me come help him train a newbie. After that he said he notices some issues with my form and thinks he can help me fix them. I then scheduled a 2 hour session...
  20. what happens when you get to THE POINT

Everyone can beat those ranked below him and lose to those ranked above, that's what rankings are for, so you're really just describing someone who's stagnant. To breakthrough you need to identify and address your weaknesses. What one's weaknesses are and how to address them will vary wildly...
