It sounds like you're an allround player and, if that's the case, then Rakza 7 is a good option (and considerably cheaper than the Butterfly options you mentioned).

The HL V is a fair bit more expensive than the Viscaria; that would explain some, but not all, of the popularity issue. Also, the Viscaria was already very popular well before ML became the superstar he is now.
