  1. D09c vs H3Neo vs Rakza Z

See the table below... H3 40 degrees = 53 degrees ESN Tenergy 05 36 degrees = ~49 degrees ESN Dignics 09C 44 degrees = ~55/56 degrees ESN Bear in mind that this is only talking about SPONGE hardness; it doesn't account for the different topsheet properties which contribute significantly to the...
  2. D09c vs H3Neo vs Rakza Z

Isn't Rakza Z around 50-degrees and D09C around 55-degrees? With that difference in mind, isn't the greater top-end power of D09C what you'd expect? Might Rakza Z Extra Hard be closer to D09C, and be a better alternative for those who don't want to pay Butterfly prices?
  3. Hinoki outer ply

I'm just guessing here, but might it have something to do with the availability of good quality hinoki in sufficient quantities to justify Butterfly, Stiga and DHS developing and marketing blades with hinoki outer plies? I'm not suggesting those are the only three brands that matter - as we...
  4. Rubber upgrade

A great example of one of the many reasons I enjoy being part of the TTD community!
  5. Blade Reccomendation

I should add that, strictly speaking, the Donic Persson Powerply isn't a 5-ply. It's actually a 7-ply, but the 'extra' plies are very thin foil and the blade plays more like a fairly powerful 5-ply than like a 7-ply. It's actually a really good blade, and Donic offer it with their 'Senso' style...
  6. Blade Reccomendation

OK, now we can narrow the options a bit: Xiom Offensive S Butterfly Primorac Donic Persson Powerplay Tibhar Stratus Powerwood These sound like the sort of thing you're after. Again, I'm assuming you're looking for a 5-ply all-wood.
  7. Blade Reccomendation

I don't know the Yinhe N11S so can't comment on that, but good blades in the ALL+ to OFF range are plenty. Some that come to mind are: Xiom Offensive S Andro Timber 5 OFF/S Andro Novacell OFF Butterfly Primorac Lots of Donic options Neottec Voodoo Classic Stiga Offensive Classic Tibhar Stratus...
  8. Stiga DNA Dragon Grip

I was keen to try a Chinese-style rubber just for a bit of fun, and decided to give the DNA Dragon Grip a go. I've only had a couple of hours with it so far, but these are my initial thoughts: Note 1: Bear in mind that I've not played with Chinese-style rubbers before apart from a quick knock...
  9. Rubber upgrade

Given that you've been playing for a while, and that you have access to a club (so I assume other, more experienced players are able to give you some feedback and help) I'd probably suggest Yasaka Rakza 7 for both FH and BH. It's a well-proven rubber - a classic really - that offers tremendous...
  10. Szöcs Signature 1 vs. Samsonov Force Pro

Thanks MOG! So the Blue sounds like it's closer to something like the SK7 then - is that right?
  11. Szöcs Signature 1 vs. Samsonov Force Pro

Thanks for this! I couldn't see any comparisons to the Force Pro Blue in these articles, only to the Force Pro Black. I may have just missed it, I'll read them again more carefully. Thanks though!
  12. Szöcs Signature 1 vs. Samsonov Force Pro

Is the Szöcs Signature 1 just a rebrand of the Samsonov Force Pro (Blue)? If not, is anyone able to comment on the differences?
  13. Nittaku fastarc g-1 max thickness?

Keen to hear your thoughts on the MAX version vs 2.0mm if you have a moment to share ...
  14. New FH Rubber - Suggests?

Good call! Fastarc G-1 is an outstanding rubber; at least as good as others double its price.
  15. Nittaku fastarc g-1 max thickness?

It's available from TT11. The range goes: Medium (1.4mm) Thick (1.8mm) Super-thick (2mm) Max (2.15mm) Like Yoass I've also been hesitant to try the new Max. The regular 2.0mm version is just so good!
  16. Kiri Spruce Koto Blade - All+ to Off-

I think the Avalox P500 is Koto - Spruce - Ayous - Spruce - Koto. Of course I could be wrong, but that might be as close as you can get with a standard production blade. You could get in touch with one of the custom blade makers on this forum though. Any one of them could make what you're after...
  17. Yasaka Rakza 7 vs Nittaku Fastarc G-1

I also largely agree with Gozo. The only thing I see differently is the spin. In my view the R7 gives the sensation (ie. the 'feel' at the moment of impact) of imparting more spin, but based both on the accuracy of placement and the difficulty that opponents seem to have blocking, I'm pretty...
  18. SDC Handmade Blades

Stunning! Does the Wenge make it quite a stiff blade? Or does it have some flex?
  19. Just tried a H3Neo, so disappointed

Well, I'm certainly not an expert in Chinese-style rubbers, but I don't think Xiom Vega X is in that category. Did you perhaps mean Xiom Vega China, or Xiom Omega VII China Guang? TT11 recently did a really helpful video comparing some of the H3 Neo alternatives:
