  1. Which Hurricane 3 should I choose?

Heavy use on FH side ;) Had a brief episode with a red 39° Neo on my FH last year because I couldn't get a red H8-80 for my backhand. Not for me... It felt like the red H3 didn't grip the ball as well as the black ones (even old, used black ones) and were less "crisp". Nonetheless, I'm using red...
  2. 7 ply all-wood with Koto outer and Ayous intermediate and core

Maybe the Avalox P500 but that wasn't available when I used my Powerplays ;) It's a really good blend between 5-ply and 7-ply blades. Not as stiff and not as fast but not slow either although the frequency measurements are somewhere between 1250 Hz and 1300 Hz. That's just the damping (paper)...
  3. Which brands are most popular in each country?

In Germany it depends on where you live. Mainly because the largest stores try to sell their own brands. Contra = Gewo, Schöler&Micke = Andro, Sport Schreiner = Donic. Don't know how well Butterfly or Tibhar do here overall but there are way more players using Butterfly blades or rubbers than...
  4. Which Hurricane 3 should I choose?

Than a tacky, harder sponged rubber is definitely an option. If you're buying from Tabletennis11 I would get the Nittaku/DHS H3 Neo Orange Sponge (NR-8701) https://www.tabletennis11.com/other_eng/nittaku-hurricane-neo-3-8701 Has at least the same quality as a provincial H3 but cheaper ;)...
  5. Li-Ning Retailer for Europe ?

https://li-ning.de/tischtennis/tischtennisschuhe/ or https://lining-sport.eu/table-tennis/table-tennis-shoes/ Both sites are run by Li Ning Europe GmbH but I don't know why they are hiding their TT shoes on some of their websites (e.g. https://lining.aliexpress.com/store/2097003). TT11 sells...
  6. 729 Blue ALC / Black carbon

Can't say the same. Feedback from the Blue Arylate (also 88g) is a bit different than from my Yinhe V14Pro (87g) but not too bad. Overall I find the Blue Arylate easier to play with/more controlled than the V14Pro. Maybe I just like the handle better or that it is less head heavy. The V14Pro is...
  7. Lin Goayuan new Blade WTT Bangkok

    Slightly better from todays match
  8. Looking for best value for money cheap thin 7 ply blade.

DHS PG-7, Friendship A-2, Yasaka Galaxya or maybe the new Sanwei Parla. Victas Swat is a bit overpriced since they rebranded it and don't get a light Swat (they weight as little as 80g, quite slow and feel a bit like cardboard).
  9. Cheap Koto-Inner Fibre blade?

Cheap? 729/Friendship F-1 koto, ayous, 3K carbon, candlenut core, 5.7 mm, quite flexible and light (had one weighing afair 79g).
  10. Why were the rubbers black and red in the first place?

When I started playing table tennis we had at least blue (Mark V 1)), green (Mark V and Donic Slick), natural (Stiga Tornado), red and black. According to http://www.ttnzarchives.org.nz/chronicle/1987.htm there were two rule changes in the 1980s. One required to have just different colors on...
  11. Hurricane H3 with curly tail

Have to change my mind on this one. The Seamoon with 2021 printing works only somewhat as expected: only for a short time maybe two weeks or so and when I took of a red H3 37 to reboost it had a good reverse dome... Sponge color looks different because I used Andro Pro Glu which is dyed green.
  12. San Francisco looking for training partner.

Cornilleau Hinotec Off+ (hinoki, carbon, kiri, carbon, hinoki) or if you want to spend a lot of money Nittaku Eto Blade 2023 Usagi https://www.tabletennis11.com/other_eng/nittaku-eto-blade-2023-usagi

or from Butterfly https://de.butterfly.tt/lin-gaoyuan-alc.html for 179€ incl. 19% VAT or around 150€ / USD 161 without VAT
  15. What year did Hurricane 3 come out?

No exact dates on the official DHS website http://en.dhs-sports.com/chroniclebrand.shtml or http://en.dhs-sports.com/36defad3-6e86-cb2b-84a7-d15ecf7e7559.shtml just 2000 for H2 and H3 and 2008/2009 for the Neos
  16. 1980s Stiga Allround blade - worth reusing ?

This could be an interesting blade for some collectors e.g. https://www.ebay.de/itm/295377574239 I would keep that blade and get a new Stiga Allround Evolution. Upgrade from Mark V could be either the Rakza 7 or the more controlled Rigan and Rigan Spin.
  17. Post your latest EJ purchase

DHS PG3 and one of the red H8-80 37 (44g cut, the lightest one so far but also the one with the most brittle sponge). The H3 is from a different order ;)
  18. History in the making: Donic blade carrying a Malaysian TT player name

Nope, Sanwei Fextra clone ;) "Technology: 7 veneers made of abachi (core ply), red abachi (3+5), limba (2+6) and limba (1+7)" https://shopee.com.my/Donic-Feng-Power-Explosive-Power-Controlled-Table-Tennis-Blade-i.40104915.21375188680
  19. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

Yep, 6 to 8 weeks was what I usually got out of ESN rubbers. But some rubbers needed a bit boosting in between... If we can wait for around a month than we might get a slightly softer and a lot cheaper option: Glayzer 09C (44.90€ in Germany vs 79.90€ for a Dignics 09C).
  20. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

    1. D09C will be better for serving and short game than these bouncy ESN rubbers but 2. D09C might be rated slower than T05FX by Butterfly but has a much higher ceiling 3. can you engage the hard sponge (D09C = roughly 54° ESN) of the D09C enough to use its potential? There is a reason Ma Long or...
