  1. Guess the Rating

Vrael, I am probably not honestly 2200 even if I can play those shots pretty well, because the people I play with are not as good as 2200 players and thus I have a far easier time. 2200 players are also surely mentally better than I am, and far more experienced. The people I play with rarely...
  2. Guess the Rating

Vrael, my situation is similar, except I have a loop on my backhand. I believe flicking is too risky for my level, because I can't land a flick with 95% consistency unless I've read the ball. If I have read it, I can perform good shots consistently. So I "actually" do not have that many, but I...
  3. Guess the Rating

Vrael, I read your post. Your formatting is still causing pain to my eyes, but I appreciate the effort. I wholeheartedly agree on the selection of shots available to a player. I can perform at least half of the shots you are talking about, but not all to a level I am comfortable with. That is...
  4. Guess the Rating

Shuki, it doesn't matter if NL would win or lose against me, and it's all theory. We would have to play to find out. I am betting on NL due to experience and some good shots. I would most likely make exactly the mistakes that I have been talking about. Carl, I may be a reptilian but I am not an...
  5. Guess the Rating

It is only tiresome if you let it be tiresome. You can always dismiss everyone who does not post match footage as sub 1000 theorists and your life will be significantly easier, if you can't see a person's level from what they're saying. Honestly, I would really like to actually meet some...
  6. Guess the Rating

I can post a video of a shadow stroke. I just thought you wanted actual match footage. Shuki, with the way the economy is going, you're not really terrible far off in some aspects. ;)
  7. Guess the Rating

Are shadow strokes an accurate representation of someone's level? Surely my shadow stroke is a bit better and technically better than when I am presented with an actual situation. I have also noticed my shadow footwork IS better than my match footwork. I do not consider it accurate. Shuki, I...
  8. Guess the Rating

I would love to know exactly how long it would take me to become so good as to post 2400+ play, NL. After looking around in the USATT rankings and at charts etc., and because I am entirely unsure of what exactly is going on around the 1750 - 2100 area, all I can say is that I fulfill...
  9. Guess the Rating

I think you guys are posting more out of egoism than wanting to provide information, now. There is no need to go around insulting people, especially when no one questioned your playing level or ability in the first place. NL, your third ball is better than in the video you posted in...
  10. Guess the Rating

The old man understands the concept of playing level appropriate shots, thus he is quite good. ;) Although, I have never seen a 2000 as good as him. Surely 2000 and 2200 cannot be compared, because 2200 should virtually always beat a 2000 statistically, right? Well, my image of 2200 players is...
  11. Guess the Rating

Seeing as USATT rating seems to actually vary for different levels in different regions, I'd really like to see the 2000's in your clubs, Shuki. Perhaps they are better than the 2000's I have seen. You see, I do not have experience in the USATT system personally, so my impressions are entirely...
  12. Guess the Rating

NextLevel is the darker gentleman. I don't know who this everybody user is, but I personally would guess his rating to be 1600 - 1800 based on only that short provided video footage. NL already said why he posted the video and thread.
  13. Guess the Rating

I don't think I ever advocated NOT playing every return well, at any point in time. It's not like conservative shots are inherently bad shots, unless you're competing in a far too high level competition, but in that case, go compete with similarly skilled people and triumph there. The point...
  14. Guess the Rating

@NL What facade? I've been considering these concepts the past few months, and realizing the truth about this has just shown me that my shot selection and technique is "beyond my level", as long as I don't overextend myself. I have seen this in many other people as well, so it has to be an...
  15. Guess the Rating

Honestly, if Rich or Felipe played like that against the average 2000 USATT, I think they would brutalize them. I was looking around and found this. This video demonstrates my prior points perfectly. Juan perhaps appears like some kind of godlike 2400, slamming 9000mp/h shots at every...
  16. UpSideDownCarl Looping In NYC's Chinatown

Take care not to tense the muscles, especially when developing better, more compact follow through and backswing. That for me is the only reason I would get any pain, and it's when I know I'm tensing even a little bit.

What do you mean 'put the paddle backwards'? EDIT: Bring the paddle behind your view?
  18. Against spin vs with spin.

@Subject of looping with mild spin Don't underestimate the power of dead loops. They look like brush loops, but there's relatively little spin on them. Bad players do this with a lot of pace and they don't know they do it, good players do this with very little pace and it's intentional. ;)
  19. Guess the Rating

Taking into account only consistency, alternating 1600 - 1800 for you and him. Most mistakes here appear to be from trying to play too hard and not having the right balance of pressure and percentage down and instead playing too technical or forceful shots when they are not necessary. I did...
  20. Against spin vs with spin.

I agree with what NextLevel is saying. My go-to response for a relatively spinny, fairly low backspin ball to my long backhand is to loop it and let it dip over the net, catching it on the way and dropping short on the table, punishing anyone who doesn't have the needed in-out footwork. It's...
