  1. Something to think about regarding technique

You want to use your body's axis' to accelerate the other axis' to produce the highest bat speed. The reason you can get so much spin with a pendulum serve is because your legs are twisting your upper body which is twisting your shoulders which has an arm attached to it that is rotating around...
  2. February 17th, A Good Day To Be Born

I was born one day after Hitler's day. Don't worry, I won't be invading Europe or anything. Yet.
  3. Question on Fang Bo Service

The difference between top 300 to top 30 and onward is absolutely huge. Comparing the number 1 to the number 100 is not even a comparison: the number 1 will win with his eyes closed and his hands tied behind his back. Not to mention China has possibly millions of players who can...
  4. Question on Fang Bo Service

Brian believes that his abilities are that of an actual top athlete's, thus he's constantly stunned by the spin and placement of Fang Bo. I think Brian could learn to return serves of this level in a day, but he usually plays against rubbish players, thus this is far beyond his level and he...
  5. more control on ZJK ALC

I've heard only good things about Mark V. It's not so popular among top players/people who think they're top players, but it's one of "the" rubber that I think of. So it can't be an absolutely terrible buy.
  6. more control on ZJK ALC

I would do as I suggest, but if you must, do get a slower rubber. I am not an equipment expert so I can't comment on this specifically. My advice, if you want to stick with the high level blade, is to do drills and drills only, and do them slower. Eventually you'll start to get the faster blade...
  7. more control on ZJK ALC

Would it not be best to build a bat of 60USD or so that is suitable to develop your strokes with, and store the ZJK ALC in ideal conditions, to take it out when you're ready and you'll essentially have a nearly brand new, top notch blade to play with when you can control it?
  8. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

Let me guess: thinner rubber is faster if you hit harder.
  9. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

I'd have to agree with Carl. Perhaps Pnachtwey is very skilled in his field, or perhaps he is not. I don't actually know enough about the subject to judge what is rubbish and what is not, but let us assume that everything is technically correct. He may be entirely technically correct, but it...
  10. Celebrities playing Table Tennis!

This is a must see for everyone here. It's the animated adaption of the comic. That's the live action movie, not quite as good. Go on Crunchyroll and you should be able to stream this for free.
  11. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

Can you produce a single post without letting your insecurity bleed through via insults?
  12. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

Having the word "assholes" in your post explaining why you're doing right and we're doing wrong is not very convincing. I don't even understand why it has to be about who is right and who is wrong, when an off-topic but more interesting discussion on grip pressure was possible to be continued...
  13. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

I'd also like to add that you can change blade angle and fade/hook amount by varying the pressure each finger applies. Most people seem to do this in the incorrect way, and they grip the bat hard and thus change the angle and amounts of fade/hook in the shot mid-swing. Good players do this...
  14. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

I would not like to talk bad about anyone who at least puts themselves out there to be critiqued, but I must say that the man's body is definitely not helping him produce good strokes. I can imagine how taxing it would be to shift a load like that. To correct one's form, they should go to the...
  15. Who has the world's best backhand?

We need to remember what is "best". Best is what won you the world championship. I don't think the ranking is based on stroke quality or style.
  16. Who has the world's best backhand?

Ma Long. You can replace this with next year's champ and it'd be accurate, because in the modern game, you can't survive as number 1 without a great backhand.
  17. Ma Long's Forehand

It wouldn't. You can understand it by asking yourself if all people have the exact same body.
  18. Ma Long's Forehand

You don't understand the basic difference between an individualized stroke that depends solely on body proportions and muscle structure among other things, and a technique. Anyone can have "Ma Long technique" but no one except Ma Long or a clone of his will do the exact same stroke.
  19. Ma Long's Forehand

Hobbyists are best off learning good mechanics. A coach and close observation of people who are doing it right is best, in my opinion. Am I not advocating exactly that? I think you're making up context for this thread and my posts. The purpose of this thread, what it is for, is to learn about...
  20. All about dwell time, maybe, but only if there are enough people interested.

This thread could be interesting, but all I see here is name calling and insecurity. I could make this interesting by commenting on the terribly dualistic, western idea of "right and wrong" and "only one optimal solution" and why it's faulty in the real world, but that'd be even more off topic...
